Plot summary
Cardinal Richelieu and his power-hungry entourage seek to take control of pre-rennaisance France, but need to destroy Father Grandier - the priest who runs the fortified town that prevents them from exerting total control. So they seek to destroy him by setting him up as a warlock in control of a devil-possessed nunnery, the mother superior of which is sexually obsessed by him. A mad witch-hunter is brought in to gather evidence against the priest, ready for the big trial.

1.6GB pDVD UNCUT - Vertigen

Vertigen comment
Thirty six years later this film is still able to shock and its contemporary relevance has remained undiminished. Russell, who later called it his only political film, created less an image of religious blasphemy, rather one that really showed the corruption that existed between state and church. Grandier's death has less to do with his own shortcomingss as a priest and more to do with the fact that Loudun was a political problem for Cardinal Richelieu. I recommen to read Aldous Huxley's THE DEVILS OF LOUDUN.

This looks like another cap from a British tv screening.

Ok, guys. Let me explain something about this ripping. This is anything except a cap from a british screening. Among other reasons, because it includes for the first time the cut footage of the Rape of Christ sequence, removed when the film was released 35 years ago.

The quality is not the best because the negative belongs to Warner B. and they continue being reluctant to any release of this movie. But this DVD could be bought in USA as you can see, watching the enclosed poster. Ken Russell's master work is absolutely a must. If you have any doubt, just check the Extras.

Rip if from fileheaven.

This one seems to have been missed and was hidden in the bowels of the fh database. Its a tad big for my taste, stripping out the spanish will bring it down but not by much :(

Comparing screens it seems to be better quality than the recent STR rip (purely source related), the AR looks to be better on some scenes too although there's bordering.
