That's the movie in The Big Lebowski dream sequence! This one doesn't look like as much fun as a Jackie Treehorn production would be, though…
Last night I watched Oldboy again. What an amazing movie! Only problem is, now I have a really strong urge to go shoot up a school. Dammit, the Neo-cons were right! We should ban this and every other film with hammers in.
Especially The Toolbox Murders.
Also watched Rumblefish. We should ban that too — it's disturbing to see Mickey Rourke with facial expressions.

The Last Drop - an adventure movie set in WWII. The cliche theme of "there's a gold/art treasure in the Netherlands, stolen by the nazis. Let's grab it with an allied special forces unit" is redone again (seriously, I have watched around five movies which all have this theme), this time with Billy Zane, Michael Madsen and some actors who play either English, Canadian or Scottish soldiers. The latter are the stars of this movie, not the big names. A mediocre effort, this flick.

I Spit On Your Grave - good nasty, although I had expected the kills to be climactic.
House by the Cemetery - nice Fulci, with the gore you can expect from him. Some of the characters in this film deserved to die very soon, because they were so incredibly stubborn in doing dumb things. I liked the ending, although I'd rather have it end with a killing.

Just watched a Fulci myself!
Murder Rock (1984): It's like a violent Flashdance. The movie
is pretty cheesy with an easy to guess plot. The music is not so great
(even for the 80s) which was done by Kieth Emmerson (Emmerson/Lake/
and Palmer fame). The dance outfits are to die for!

Love your signature, Oberon! Donkthulhu rocks!
Yesterday I watched
- Suspiria: awesome! A very beautifully shot movie, with symbolic use of colours, the music is a great add-on, the acting is OK, the only thing that could have been even better is the story. There are some glitches in the storyline that could have been avoided. That being the only drawback for me, I enjoyed this film a lot! And I finally know where the /High Quality picture is from

Thanks!
While whipping up a couple icons on Spud's request I kinda
forgot how much I like fiddling around with photoshop. I've
been reading Lovecraft recently and I thought, 'Hey, why not
make an elder god out of the donkey?' So I did... Arise
Donkthulhu! Arise!

Went to the theatre last night to see No Country For Old Men. Wow, what a blast! The pace is relaxed, as this is one of those Mexican borderzone movies, and they are meant to be slow(er). There's this hitman with a pneumatic gun, he is really crazy and amazing! The Coen brothers have done it again, I loved their films already, and this is a great addition to their oeuvre! You should all see this. It's not horror, but there's enough blood and killings around to enjoy. Apart from that, it's just a great movie!

movie bonanza last night::
Big Jim McLain (John Wayne in the unamerican acts committee, going after commies!!)
Phantom of The Opera (The Silent Original)
Planet Terror (Awesome! Still Wish they would put out a print without the intentional film damage though)
Death Proof (Slightly drags, but The car crash in the middle has to be one of the best fx in recent years)
Black Dahlia (The Brian DePalma one. Dragged some and wish they would have focused more clearly on the case facts.......but that is included in bonus features anyway)

Kung Fu Vampire Killers: Finally watched this & hmmmm.... The first 30 mins of plot building is very dull but then things liven up a lot. I guess the lack of budget meant that nobody can actually do kung fu but they did try hard
I wonder if the director was experimenting with his cameras as there was shotloads of different styles in this... slow motion, stop motion, blurring, black/white & even that vapour trail style (whatever you call it).
3 decapitations, all heads off, 1 was with an electric bread knife, 1 an axe & the last a machete. Some of this was quite funny but hmmmm, the cameras spoiled it a lot 4/10.

Video nasty night:
Cannibal Man - sort of artistic Spanish effort about a not so very intelligent guy that starts killing people around him. This premise is quite unbelievable, especially with the first few killings. I thought the rich guy in the new apartment was gay, but I never saw proof of it. Quite a nice movie, but nothing spectacular. Historically interesting, though: it was made during Franco's reign and it's quite critical in itself.
Fight For Your Life - the story is quite brutal, but man, the actors are great! One of the better nasties, I really liked it. Good story, recommended to anyone but people who are fainthearted.
Zombie Creeping Flesh/Hell of the Living Dead - yes, zombies! And stupid people who wait till they get eaten! Or stupid criminals who wait to get shot by a SWAT team! Great badness all over the place. Nature is very illogical in this film: there are jackals in the jungle (??) and when the main characters reach a river, you can hear hundreds of seagulls (??) just before they get on a boat, which is in the sea (??). Apart from this, the zombiekills are gory and there are natives who try to compete with Cannibal Ferox in terms of gruesome habits.

More nasties (not all on one night ): Mountain of the Cannibal God - first hour is more like a survivalmovie, but the final scene is very gruesome and can compete with other cannibalmovies. A shame that it took so long to get to that final scene. Don't Go In The Woods... Alone - a joke of a movie with a totally weird looking guy dressed like a medieval woodsman killing all (!) passersby on a mountain. Even the guy in the wheelchair (who shouldn't have been all alone on a mountain anyway) has to die. Inferno - wow! One of the best nasties and one of the best Argentos I have seen. I watched Suspiria a few days before, both are great films, I like Inferno a tad better because it's more versatile. Incredible that there used to be people who wanted to ban this work of art. Night Train Murders - expected some serial killer in a train, got "Last House on the Left" on wheels. The similarities betwen the two stories are striking. Snuff - a film about nothing, is that possible? Yes it is, watch Snuff and turn it off before the final ten minutes start. There you ghave it, your film about nothing. Those last 10 minutes are cool enough to watch, but I recommend anyone to skip the first 68 minutes. The Toolbox Murders - the story of this one was far better than I imagined. I expected a straightforward serial killer movie, but instead this one kept me interested until the end. Good film, recommended.
