That is usually one and the same category

Thanks. I will think about those. Slayer wrote: | Three good/enjoyable vampire movies:

I think that most of the students have already seen the first two of them.

You choose those over:
Near Dark,
Fearless Vampire Killers,
Cronos,
*Rabid,
*Martain
?
Night Watch and Day Watch are nice, if not strictly horror, vampire films.

All those you mention are on my "to watch" list.
I forgot Vampires Anonymous, btw. A very funny vampire film, but not cheesy funny, really funny.

wtf???? You just commited a cardinal sin... only thing you can do to top that statement is to make a claim that Evil Dead 2 is also a remake. i.e. remove from zombie list, insert on demonic possession list

Instead, put "The Dead Next Door", "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" or "Hell of the Living Dead" on that list. Zombiefilms with a good laugh. And promise never, never to call ED2 a zombie movie again!

Whatever rows your boat, RV. Both are good for a laugh, both are not scary, LSCL is a tad better qualitywise.

What about some Polanski (no i don't mean child molestation )... I already mentioned Fearless Vampire Killers, there's also Ninth Gate which is very Lovecraftian in a way (imo Master's of Horror Cigerette Burns is a blatant rip off of Ninth Gate), or something like Rosmary's Baby or one of his others from his big horror period? Its never wall-to-wall horror in any of these cases, just bloody good films.

Ninth Gate: how can you possibly call that a good movie? OK, to be preicse you don't, but you're recommending it to others, something which I never would with that film. I saw it in the theatre an felt robbed afterwards. The ending was so terrible, it made the entire movie look bad.

its not just a good movie, its in many ways a excellent movie as are all of the polanski's to be honest (and why many rightly view him as one of the best directors we've got). Calling it crap is just plum wrong in my mind, the cinematography and craftmanship us more than solid, the plots solid, its well built and its treading the fine line between reality and fiction within the piece of fiction (self-relfective horror). Its also strongly appealing by the factor that few have seen it. I've noticed a trend of people being grossly and inappropriately harsh on the film and it just makes me wonder. Its not polanski's best, but polanski's best is genius. You clearly don't agree with me, but one thing is damn obvious... it makes its ripoff cigarette burns look like a complete piece of shit, although cb wasn't actually very good. I'd recommend watching Ninth Gate before airing it, in case you don't get it or don't like the pacing. The movie is paced and crafted like a 70s movie, so this won't sit right with children or gore fiends because they just won't get it (or get into it). It might have been made in 1999 but I would describe it as a traditional lovecraftian horror; self-reflective. Not seen it in a while, but a 3* entry seems to be the average score. ps. there's also uzis and breasts.

Haven't seen cigarette burns, so can't comment on that. I just think I expected more from both Polanski and the storyline. Cinematography is good, I'll give it that, but the story was not played out as it could have been and again, the ending was terrible.

Lacklustre perhaps, terrible... not really. If you think that's a terrible ending I'd hate to think what you think of "I am legend" ps. just checked to see the love / hate relationship of the movie, you are mirroring roger ebert's review, whereas mine is more like Philip Stricks.
