Grand Illusion - World War I prisoner of war film. Some aspects were nice, but I don't understand why this is a classic, I didn't really like it. If you want to see a nice prisoner of war film, watch Stalag 17 instead. It has the same atmosphere, but the story is much more interesting.

Yea that film rules. Hope you saw the director cut as it is a ton more full on.. just mroe gore and violence then the other cut.

Watched Constantine today. When i first saw this film i thought it was pretty bad but i really enjoyed it this time around for some reason. Not sure why. I think i just dig the attitude of the Constantine.

Whoa, haven't visited this thread for a while... Must admit I haven't been watching that much over the past month, mainly documentaries. I'll stick to the movies.

Salvador - Want to see James Woods acting in a way he should have done in all his films? Check this one out! He really does a great performance in this one. Madness all around in this flick about the dictatorship in El Salvador.

Kanal - Polish film about the Warsaw uprising. Nice dramatic touches, and nice to see this from the Polish perspective for once. Much, much better than this David Schwimmer abomination they made in the US.

Die Brucke - German film about a group of young boys who end up defending their home village from the oncoming Americans. Based on a true story, this was gripping.

The Brotherhood of War (Taegukgi) - Wow, wow, wow! This film is so tense, I sent my GF out when she came in close to the end. The storyline is interesting, it depicts both sides in the Korean conflict (with a bias on the south, but that's where the main characters are from, so...) and the scenery and the action is great. Only if you really hate warmovies you should skip this one. I put this film together with "Apocalypse Now", "Stalingrad" and "El Alamein - in the line of fire" in the list of best warmovies ever.

And recently I started watching horror again:

R-Point - mixture of warmovie and ghostmovie. Has its moments, but runs for too long to really entertain. I had expected a lot more gore since it's Korean (cliche, but often true). I have seen several mixtures of horror- and warmovies, and this one isn't a success either. I didn't like "The Bunker", "Horrors of War" and this one. Let's hope Deathwatch is any good.

Lone Wolf - this werewolf movie has a nice plot, but the acting is very, very bad. So bad you can laugh at it sometimes. The close ups of the werewolf are disappointing, as we never get to see it in its entirety, only in a shadow or in the far distance (it reminded me of Jaws). Not a good film, not really, really bad (apart from some acting).

Prototype X29A - people make machines to kill riots, then they have to make new machines to kill the first generation (mmm, sounds a bit like... ). A lot of stuff is pretty vague in this film or doesn't get finished. The ending is meh. I liked the gamelike arcade vision of the prototypes. If you're into this cyborg stuff, give it a go. If not, skip it.

And last, but not least, watched this one with the gf:

Ali - great film, some plotholes considering his relationships with women, but apart from that: recommended.

I liked "Horrors of War". It was a bit "decayed", but I enjoyed it.

Automatons (2006): Boring black and white flick with hilariously bad looking robots. Hard to sit through, because it's so boring.

Azumi (2003): Marvelous Asian adventure about young martial arts fighters fighting against evil forces who try to rule their land.

Carnivàle Season 1: Episode 1 - 6 (2005): Great series with twisting plots and lots of good actors. Only downside: the American dialect is very hard to understand.

Ghostkeeper (1981): This movies is nowhere near as good as the masterpiece of Stephen King and Stanley Kubrik. The story is OK, but there are too many things left unexplained which thus seem unnecessary or illogical.

Grotesque (1988): Pretty good movie about some punks that try to steal money from a famous Hollywood director. The last third of the movie is too slow paced and it looses its touch. The ending is very strange too.

Masque Of The Read Death (1989): Pretty forgettable if you ask me. It is very slow paced and nothing special in any sense.

Night Train To Terror (1985): Was OK, but you don't have to see this. It's three stories mixed with a main plot about God and the Devil arguing and sitting in a train. I especially liked the third story. The other two seemed a bit too weird.

The Hidden 2 (1994): This one was quite interesting. The story was very simple but the acting and the special affects were good. I liked it very much.

Zombies Zombies Zombies (2008): Avoid it. Too few tits and too much stupid nonsense being talked.

Watched Bubba Ho-Tep again today. Always a great movie. They're making a sequel called Bubba Nosferatu. Unfortunately Bruce Campbell isn't going to be in it :/

And this isn't a movie, but I feel I need to tell people, I downloaded all the episodes of The Angry Beavers, and have been watching them constantly to bring things back to my childhood :D

childhood? how old are you 15? That cartoon is ilike 97-2001!!! Is kinda cool show though.

My fav new cartoon was one my kid introduced to me a while back, called Invader Zim. O thought it very funny. Reminded me of Ren and Stimpy, as in the show was in fact a lot more adult than it let on, but as the show kept going it sorta got kiddified by the networks untill it was canceled. Wish the suits would just leave the artists alone!

The show is in fact made by a very good comic guy who wrote Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squeee!

WALL-E
Was it my imagination or dose Eva say FUCK and CUNT in this film. Trailer Park of Terror - entertaining and sometimes funny with demonic rednecks taking on a group of teenagers who are in the process of being saved from their bad habits by a pastor. Redneck Larlene is actually less scary as a demon than as herself :o I liked this one, go watch it!

Blood Wars - imdb comments warned me about this flick, stating "I watch these bad movies so you don't have to" so I knew what to expect. When expecting nothing, a lot looks less bad than you first thought. Unfortunately, this film doesn't bring a lot which will be remembered after watching it. The only thing which was nice, was the struggle of William not to become a vampire, but we have already seen that in Martin, and in a way a thousand times better. The female vampire looks nice, but she can't save this flick. It's not 100% wasted time, but if you have a choice, choose the other movie over Blood Wars.

Trailer park of terror, not bad. But I was stoned almost to the point of blindness. TBH if I think back to watching last night, I remember nothing more than a few 'impressions', but that is good enough for me.

Alien Raiders, fuck me that is one shitty name. Actual film was pretty good, nothing original, but still a decent enough film.

Pulse 3, a huge pile of rotten HIV infected monkey guts. I actually started skipping through it, then eventually abandoned it all together. Ironically I will watch shitty films because they are bad and amuse me, but this was just plain awful, not even funny.

No complicated summaries from me, I really cannot be arsed to dissect the film on a technical level, so I shall not.

That is the single reason I will never watch that shit. If I was a robot I would spend my time upgrading myself and entering underground robo-fights.

I would have unlimited WD40.

:p

WALL-E is actually one of the best films of recent years by a long way.
Pixar are the only company that have consistantly put out top notch film after top notch film and keep pushing themselves beyond the bar they set in their previous outings. They have studied over a hundred years of cinema and keep pushing themselves beyond it. WALL-E is by all accounts a brilliant film, I'd highly recommend it.

If swearing is the only thing to sell it to you, then here we go; go watch it you worthless cunt :p

CARS was terrible, but they definatly have a decent record.

Interesting to note that PIXAR has commioted to the new wave of cinima and form their next feature on will be only making 3D Movies (as in you wear the glasses).

Avatar is going to change cinima forever.

imo cars was solid, if not anywhere near as good as their best. Compare it to all the other shite family films and its clearly better than any of the other recent disney pap :)
