Surely not, were'd they get 'em from.

Very H.R Giger though

Then were in the hell did they get human remains?

Isn't it a bit sort of sacraligious? I'm not relegious but the body is still important, and when I die I hope I don't wind up as an arm in some sort of sculpture!

I mean would your wife/parents/kids like your remains to be used as a visitors attraction.

It would be spooky!
Any members live near here or have possibly been?

read the info. it's all explained in there.

I'd love for my bones to become art to be admired by thousands myself.

Apperantly Jan Svankmeyer (director of 'Alice') has made a 10 min film about this place. There's a short .mov of it at hxxp://www.awn.com/heaven_and_hell/svank/svank9.htm

I'd love to get my hands on the full thing.

But I swear on my bones that this is one place I WILL visit before I die!

LOL :P .

Must be full of the bones of John_Doe's

I'm just interested to see were they got the bones from, becuase like i said the majority of people will have loved ones that would prefer they would be buried/cremated then made into art.

Although I bet there are people that make it part of their will that they be handed over to this place when they die!

Kinda like using your body for medical science!

You should carry a crad with you JD that states :

"If I die please hand me over to the Sedlec Ossuary" :P

hxxp://www.ludd.luth.se/users/silver_p/kutna-info.html says where the bones are from. Don't think people donate, as it was made some time ago...

If people read this they will see the story behind this post!

It's NOT something new, like people from the 90's being boned to use for art
It's religous and people wanted to be buried there what ever way they could!

And <a href=http://members.tripod.com/~Motomom/index-3.html>Palermo</a> too! Hell, it should be the first to go because it has a special virgins section.

The world has become a a very sad place indeed if one can't even dig up up the remains of some lucky stiff and have their way with it.

The Chapel of Skulls (Kaplica Czaszek) in Czerna, near Kudowa-Zdr?j, is a reminder of the region's tragic past. The chapel was built by the local vicar in 1776 to store skulls and bones of soldiers killed in the Seven-Year's War and those who perished in the cholera epidemics. The vicar used 3,000 skulls and 20,000 bones to cover the chapel's walls, ceiling and altar. In 1813, the local presbytery hosted a meeting between the emperors of Prussia and Austria and the Russian czar; it was a prelude to the treaty signed two years later at the Vienna Congress.

@carlos66: thank you very much!!! =) Many sources I see, too. The 'Chapel of Skulls' looks very nice too. Am I the only one who sees the beauty of this art? I myself have a whole bunch of skulls and bones in my appartment. None real though. I'll take a picture sometime.
