Since it is harder for spud to delete threads and spambot users when you have already replied to their comments, why not report them here? morkelkey: viewtopic.php?p=205770#p205770

yes, those are helpful as it flags it up. I've installed three levels of spam filter, you have to manually type yes (custom hack), the timezone selection has been implemented and you even have to select you aren't a spammer from a drop down box. Unfortunately there's three categories: * Dumb spam bots -> probably filtered out * Targetted/smart spam bots -> they try different combinations, are content sensitive and sometimes give 'valid' topic posts * Viral advertisers -> humans, so can't be tricked. Dead-Donkey is an indexed site with some decent presence in probably the wrong places, so spam bots dive on in here

There weren't so many spambots before the Google and Yahoo bots

The google and yahoo bots have always been on the site, all it does now is make them not appear as unregistered, but beyond indexing more pages because we have more referers and more content that's a red herring.

I'd like to report the following user, for some reason he's been able to post nothing less than 18340 useless posts!

Maybe we should confront them with one of these:

Thought I'd update, we captha'd, have a custom question and some other snizzle; most if not all spam is currently human and not automated. I don't know if the site some how made some spam list but there's only a few things I can think of doing:
Banning http links for new users; this does mean legitimate users get hit too Ban signatures with links in for new users (or all users); this does mean all users would be hit. Restrict posting to new users; not cool.
I have noticed most spam comes from .ru or yahoo.com; banning these is an option but again, this will hit legitimate users.

it averages at 1 human spammer every other day, very annoying. Slayer does a great job reporting spambots so i delete their account and all posts, but its annoying.

Not that much though, dunno if disabling lotsa stuff would be necesary for those ~4 spammers a week. I dont like the following aswell but maybe thats a solution: Maybe make it mandatory that a new user first introduces himself before they can post in the other section? Some boards have this and although like I said I dont like that very much it could offer a solution.
