Alyce - this is a film which has horror elements, it is not 100% horror. Two girls are having drinks and some drugs after one of them got cheated on by her boyfriend. They go up on a rooftop and while being playful, one pushes of the other and she smacks on to the pavement. Alyce, the girl who pushed, now retreats to the safety of her home. There she thinks everything over and over again and she starts going a little crazy. She goes out to drink more and do more drugs and the craziness grows and grows. Eventually she even kills... If you liked "Falling down" with Michael Douglas, then here is it's horrorlike little sister. It takes some patience, but when you get into it, you'll get your reward! The second part is undisputedly the very best. Recommended, if not highly!

Alien Uprising - very generic movie bout yet another planet where there has been rioting and now marines have to save the day bit oh, hell, there is also a scientist who just wants to collect data for "The Company". And there are aliens too (but you only get to see their mouths). Very repetitive and very unoriginal. Mindless timefiller. Skip.

The Woman - a dysfunctional family (at first they seem normal, but they aretotally f**ked up) has a wild woman in a separat basement. The father of the family found this "savage" while hunting. She has grown up in the woods and can't speak, she behaves like an animal. The father makes this woman his project, he wants to civilise her. But, maybe that wasn't his best idea ever. Great film, this. The atmosphere is gripping, it feels like you get choked slowly all the time. Really well done. You know something is wrong, but at first you can't put your finger on it, When it comes through you are like WTF?!? Great ending too. Highly recommended and my tip of the day is: don't read anything about it beforehand, let yourself be surprised.

Children of the Corn: Genesis - part 7 or 8 in this series and it gets further and further away from the story of part 1. The only similarity left now is the killed people with corn next to them and the children who kill in name of "he who walks behind the rows". But they are only there in dreams and/or visions, so it is not really a part of the story anymore. Although this film is pretty short, it still felt slow. I tried to stay connectd to the characters but they lost me after vision/dream number X. Maybe the ending would have looiked better if I hadn't been lost, dunno. Not a good movie.

Opposing Force - a group of soldiers is dropped on an island on a training mission. Among them is a duo of an old major who wants to get out of his deskjob and the only female soldier taking part in the training. When they get caught by the "opposing force", their job is to reveal nothing, and to escape if possible. But the commander of OpFor takes his job a little bit too seriously, and the soldiers undergo a brutal treatment, both physically and mentally. When the commander crosses the line, the veteran major wants to do something about it: he is ready to revolt. A violent eruption ensues. This film was better than I expected (I thought it'd be some sort of exploitation), but the rip was painful to watch. It was blocky and it stuttered all the way through. Thanks, CG.

The Cauldron: Baptism Of Blood - warning: Ted V. Mikels made this movie. If this name doesn't ring a bell to you, he is the guy who brought us gems like The Astro-Zombies and Blood Orgy of the She-Devils. This film is euqaly nonsensical as the previous mentioned ones. The story is about a cult and they sacrifice people to a demon. Now you know the entire plot, but it takes Ted over 100 minutes to tell us. There is ridiculously bad cgi with a totally unbelievable demonhead making a fuss from time to time. There are cheap effects like yellow stars when someone disappears (yes, some people can do that in this film). The change from real people into mannequins/dummies is laughable, the acting is mediocre at best and there is A LOT of senseless dancing around. Sexy ladies, yes. If you want to laugh for a good 100 minutes, go watch this one. If you want a good movie: run!

Warriors of the Apocalypse - superbad actionflick where the main goal is to show as many fistfights as possible. There is also a lot of shooting to spice things up. The storyline is bleak, and what was most annoying was that audio was out of sync by over a second. So if you want to watch this, don't pick the FiCO rip. Or fix the audio first. Ugly cgi blood doesn't help either and the ending is mega cheesy. Use a lot of ffwd and you might make it, like me.

Snow Beast - SBiG festival by the looks of it. The monster itself is indeed, the rest is so so. Acting is mwa, but could have been worse, the blood is cgi again (why don't they stop with this) and the sotryline is actually better than I expected, although I must say my expectations were next to zero. I had fun, but it was nothing really special, even in SBiG terms.

Evil Bong 3: The Wrath Of Bong - third installment in the series about bongs who kill people in the weird way of sucking them up, then sexually arouse them and then (in this case) suck them completely dry. The evil bong comes from outer space this time, and lures the by now pretty familiar stoners into his insides, where zombielike women are gonna be all over them. The stoners use a bong from a previous film to get to this alien bong. Nothing surprising, and we can get ready for part 4, as it got announced in the last seconds of this film.

Deadtime Stories - three horrorstories presented by George Romero. They are pretty OK, not really scary or anything, but a bit in the 80s style of Creepshow. There is a story about an expedition to the jungle which ends up quite messy; there is a story about a mermaid curse hidden in jade stones which should not be put togetjer, but... you guess it; and there is a story about vampirism directed by Tom Savini which as quite predictable btw. Mediocre.

Condorman - Cold War espionage actioncomedy, with a comic book writer who thinks he is his own superhero from time to time. Coincidentally he gets to do some real spy work and then the Russian secret service is hunting him down. Some nice SBiG stuff, like the condormansuit and the exaggerated firefights with rockets and laserbeams, but all in all it is a tad too little.

Yor - weird mix between fantasy (first half, roughly) and science fiction (the rest of the film). Yor is a superhero living in stone age conditions, helping out poor people and fighting the bad guys. He has to make a journey and he meets a woman who has the same medallion as he is wearing. Certain about making a new future for themselves, they travel on, but they will not reach their destiny together. Yor gets kidnapped later and sent into some sort of research lab where an evil lord will, take advantage of him. His friends from the start (an old guy and a woman) are gonna save him. Will they be on time? The story is not very original, the effects are what you expect from a film like this: for example, the baby dinosaur is a piglet dressed up with thorns to make it look like a dinosaur ;) I enjoyed it, it has enough SBiG moments to have a good laugh.

Bloodlust Zombies - a woman is head of a research lab where they make a virus which is meant to be used in enemy territory, to make enemies kill each other. Of course, something goes wrong and the virus gets out. Now the lab is locked down and the security guards, the researchers and a temporary employee are trapped inside. They will have to use all their skills to stay alive. Some funny stuff, some facepalm humour (the oversexed guy really got on my nerves at some point) and a lot of blood. I liked it, enough. Nice little passtime film.

Toys Are Not For Children - a film from So Demented Cinema, in "the films of Harry Novak". I had seen some of them before, like The Sinful Dwarf. This one is, well, weird. A socially traumatised young woman is acting like a little girl at the age of 20. When she marries, her husband thinks it is kind of weird that his wife is still playing with toys, doesn't want to make love with him and sleeps with a giant toy solider in her bed. I agree, that indeed is kind of weird. So he goes out to have some fun, and then bad stuff happens to the traumatised girl. From then on, she makes a radical switch and when she meets the origin of her trauma, things get out of hand. There is enough sex in this on and some violence, but not kuch. It isn't a horror film, but what you see is actually kind of spooky. So if you are gonna watch this, settle for some 70s weirdness, it will make the watching all the more pleasurable.

Rottweiler - a Brian Yuzna film, but not one of his best. The title refers to a half mechanical rottweiler which is used by a bad guy, Kufard, to attack his opponents. There is a couple of lovers who want to find out what happens on the island ruled by Kufard, but then they have to outrun the rottweiler and escape it's attacks. The rottweiler looks cool but it could have been made more extreme imo. The hallucinations are not so convincing. The final fight is cool except for the cgi and the ending is OK. Some nice acting, the story could have been a bit more interesting.

The Nostril Picker - hahaha, this one was really bad! For starters: the title is misleading, as the guy picks his nose only twice in 80 minutes, which doesn't make it a very typical thing for me. The guy btw, has heard of a Vietnamese spell which can make him look different. He thinks it doesn't work, but to others he looks like a teenage girl. Cheapest effect ever: just sometimes let the girl show up and play that same role. No props needed or anything. So we see the guy walking among other teenage girls acting like he is one of them, man that was so bad. Then the killings: let me tell you about the first one, the rest you can see when I'm gonna release this stinker. The first victim is a girl with whom the man is gonna watch some horror TV show. He goes in the kitchen, whistles a tune (that makes him turn back into himself, but of course we don't get to see any change) and then returns to the room where the TV is. The girl screams, gets up and runs away. The guy grabs her in another (part of the) room, slices her throat and the blood still ends up on the TV, which is meters away, maybe even in a different room! Wow! A must see for bad moviefans.

The Blood Splattered Bride - aka La Novia Ensangrentada. Spanish horror always makes a bit of a mystery out of a story and also has creatures which are mixes between different kind of monsters as we know them. In this one, the monster is half ghost and half vampire. A young bride finds out that her husband knows about a person who used to live in their house in the 18th century, a woman who killed her husband. The painting made of her shows a date of birth, but not one of death. After a while the bride starts dreaming of the woman and wakes up after having killed her husband in her dreams. Now she must find out what's going on before she kills her husband for real. Nice atmosphere, sometimes there is a lot of blood and the acting is pretty decent. The child especially delivers and makes a tense film at times. Recommended.

Drive-In Massacre - slasher where you have to guess the killer. He kills teenagers at a drive-in. Two fat cops are chasing him and when you think they have got him, something turns up to prove that it is still somebody else. Not a great movie, some funny stuff but there are enough killings to keep it going, and they are graphic, too. The end is pretty lame, it felt like the money ran out and they REALLY had to cut the celluloid.

The 13th Floor - the cover picture is the best part of this film. A girl is traumatised by witnessing a kid being murdered by her father. Now that she has grown up, she flees from him, as he is in politics and wants to contain her in order to prevent any stories coming in the press about her or their past. The father sends a professional after her to grab her and bring her back to him. She hides on the 13th floor of an office building which has been vacant for a while because everyone there had bad luck. Well, maybe that has something to do wiith the murdered kid... It is mostly some sort of an actionmovie, with some electricity emerging froma closet from time to time to suggest something is going on inside of it. It doesn't really get scary, but it has a nice B-movie feeling over it.

Bereavement - yet another good recent horrorfilm. A boy with a disease which makes him immune to pain is kidnapped by a serial killer and brought to his lair, an abandoned slaughterhouse building. Years later, a girl whose parents died in a carcrash, comes to live with her uncle. He happens to live in the neighbourhood of the killer. Slowly but steadily, the two stories are on a collision course, but it really takes it's time. In the meantime, the killer kidnaps and kills several other women, and speaks to the boy about it. One day, the girl sees the boy while jogging, and she wants to find out about him. So she enters the abandoned slaughterhouse building... Go see this, it is very good. Acting, tension and especially storyline. Recommended!

Cowboys and Aliens - long movie (135 mins), but I thought it was quite entertaining. Not only is the western part done in a believable way (if you scratch the aliens, you have a nice western movie left), there is also a star ridden cast, with of course Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, but also Sam Rockwell, and both Clancy Brown and Toby Huss from Carnivale. Of course, the storyline is a bit far fetched at times, and the role of the Ella Swenson character is a bit cheesy, but overall I thought it was an enjoyable experience. So if you have the time, sit down and take the ride. I didn't regret it.

Clinic Exclusive - thriller with a sexy atmosphere. A woman is running a clinic where you can get massages, with a happy ending. Or just the happy ending. She is adored by many clients, and one of them, an elderly lady, is really in love with her. She doesn't return the feelings, even treats the woman harshly. Ater some dramatic events a guy shows up in her clinic and she falls in love with him. But what are his intentions, really? Nice plottwist, mediocre acting by a large part of the cast. Fun to see Carmen Silvera (from 'Allo 'Allo fame) in this one.

Bong of the Dead - long low budget flick. Best parts are in the second half of the film, and the credits are fun too (I don't mean this in a sarcastic way - read them, you'll find out). The first half is a bit long drawn out, with some typical stoner humour and a lot of not so very nice (blood)effects. The zombieshower is cool, it made me laugh. About the endcredits: there is a scene inbetween them, and you have to read the comments of the director, they are some sort of "the making of".

The Hills Run Red - the title makes you think this will be a rip-off, but I was pleasantly surprised. This was actually not so bad. The storyline isn't original or anything (old movie has disappeared, cast and crew vanished, guy wants to find out what happened), but I must admit there were some surprises in it and acting and effects are OK. Nice to see William Sadler in a horror role once again. Recommended.

Shandra, the Jungle Girl - no storyline here. Just a woman who lives in the jugnle, gets captured and then has a lot of sex until the others decide they want to live in the jungle too. If you want to see a lot opf naked skin and don't care about the absence of a storyline, watch this one.

Deadheads - pretty funny movie with zombies, but some of the zombies actually are pretty human in this one. The main character (also a zombie) has a quest which is to express his love for his highschool sweetheart. This is a hard quest, not only because he is quite shy, but also because she is human and he is a zombie. He teams up with some other zombies, in varying degrees of decay, and they set out on a journey to fulfill the quest. This isn't without any danger, as there are many zombiehunters out for their guts. There are some funny references to other, more famous zombiefilms and overall I had a good time watching this. Recommended.

Apollo 18 - since I had seen the trailer posted on here, I was curious about this film, so when I saw it's release, I clicked immediately. It is some sort of "found footage" film, it opens with a note that about 48 hours of film were found and that this film was edited from that footage. OK. What we get to see is a lot of not so very interesting astronaut stuff, and the found footage thingy goes awry pretty soon as we get to see some garden party at the house of one of the astronauts too. Yes, of course that could have been filmed too, but how did it get mixed up with the footage made in space? Then about the horror stuff. What I really liked is the fact that you don't get to see so much. It is always only partially visible, and usually very shortly too. It gives you that feeling of seeing something in the corner of your eye, you turn to look and it's gone. Nicely done. But at some point, it should become a bit more visible and it doesn't. An astronaut gets infected and the entire mission goes wrong, and that is all OK and fitting to the story but it leaves you a bit wanting about the monster. The ending makes the fact that footage was found totally unbelievable. So: nice story, good build up of tension, but fail at delivery and some major mistakes.

Jack the Ripper - old story has been made into film several times. This time Jess Franco gives it a go with Klaus Kinski as the Ripper. Nothing really special to mention, except maybe fo the fact that the dub is really annoying as it is so noticeable. The ending came quite sudden to me. Not so enjoyable, if you ask me.

Guess What Happened To Count Dracula - somewhat psychedelic vampire flick with a cliche vampire (he speaks with a heavy accent and all) who lures a girl into his ghosthouse freakshow thingy and then wnts to turn her into a vampire. I must say that this film, which runs only for 75 minutes, managed to bore me almost to death. I went to do other stuff in the meantime and just let it run in the background. From time to time I returned to watch a scene or a part of it and because this movie is so terribly slow, I could still follow the storyline easily. This is for when you are super stoned or anything, but since I wasn't I got bored. A lot.

The Tunnel - I read good stuff about this Ozzie flick and it is justified. A real nice film with a buildup of around 30 minutes, then a pretty scary core (I had one moment which actually scared me, a rarity these days) and an OK ending. Usually I can't stand shoulder camera footage, but this time it was appropriate and well done. One thing I really liked was that I didn't know what this film was about, so I stop here. Highly recommended!

Little Deaths - British anthology with three stories. First one is about a couple with weird sexual fantasies which they act out with homeless people, but one day they bring back home something they didn't expect. Really cool twist in this one, because I didn't expect it either. Second one is about a couple where the man is dealing in organs for a secret organisation which does research based on nazi documents and the woman is an ex-hooker who sells dope. This one was weird too, but a bit more predictable, the ending wasn't so surprising. Third one is about a couple with weird sexual fantasies again (what is it with this director, you might ask) and this one was pretty boring for most of the time, but the ending was so full of vengeance, that I forgive the director for the boring part. Really, really cool ending. Recommended.

Silent Running - environmental scifi flick which has the message that we should be careful with the life on our planet, because one day we might have to do without it. This moralistic message is so prominently present, that it takes away the fun one could have watching a film like this. I was disappointed as it sounded OK to me, but it was actually kind of boring.

Evil Spawn - yay, a real good bad movie! There is a rat-like creature with a gazillion eyes and there is a guy in a rubber suit looking like a giant fly who is gonna eat an actress. Just before he was eating a girl at a swimming pool and the blood streams nicely inbetween her buttocks. Nice filming. A total non-storyline film with superbad effects, just for the fans.

The Human Centipede - heard a lot about this one, and thought it would be really shocking. It wasn't as shocking as I expected it to be but it was gross nonetheless. I was a bit surprised that a) it took so long before the operation started, and b) that you didn't get to see the operation. There are several scenes which were on the edge when it comes to being gross, like the scene where the doctor concludes that the last person in line is actually too sick and needs to be replaced. The conduct of the police was a bit unbelievable, I mean, if I was head of police and I had such unprofessional guys in my team, I would look for replacements too. Also a bit cheap to let one of them never speak a word because he is Dutch ;) The ending was a bit apocalyptic, I liked that. Can't say whether this is a good movie or not. It is one of those you might place in the row of films you need to see once in your life, but I' m not sure about that.

Grave Encounters - pretty good ghost movie. Takes long to get going, but has some good scares in it (and also some really predictable ones). It is a found footage film which totally lacks an explanation on how the ootage actually could be found in the end, and I always hate that. But, when the shit hits the fan in this film, the story is quite interesting. A TV crew lets itself be locked inside a former asylum which is said to be haunted. They find nothing for a while, but then one of them disappears. From that moment on, they try to stick together and get out but they can't seem to find the exit anymore. Some original twists, some very unoriginal ones. There was a cool reference to Blair Witch Project, I smiled at that one. Although some of the scares can be seen coming from miles away, some of them are quite good. Recommended.

Red Riding Hood - the fairytale told in a somewhat different fashion. A boring one, if you ask me. It takes so much time for things to happen in this movie that I noticed I started looking around for other thingsto do because I was so bored. The characters aren't interesting, the wolf is ugly cgi (except for the first few moments) and the guessing game about who is the wolf is not really gripping, as I totally didn't care. The ending is very cheesy, just like the lovestory which is ever present in the storyline. Conclusion: A long winded soap opera with a cgi wolf.

Killer Party - this film reminded me a lot about "The House on Sorority Row", but actually the killings start out very late in the movie. Until that time, you can get acquainted with all the girls and boys on the campus and that sounds dull, but it has an effect. At least I was caring a little (ok, very little) bit more when they were finally killed. The killer is not what you might expect, and it gives this film some sort of a twist. Plus: atmosphere. Minus: it takes long before the killing starts, a bit more action in the first hour would be appreciated.

Alien Zone - this is not what I expected. I didn't read what this was about, so I was in for some extraterrestrial action. About 15 minutes in, I started to read on the plot, because I couldn't follow, and it turned out it is an anthology movie about a guy who gets lost and then hides in a mortuary where the moritician tells him four stories about people who had been brought to him. The video and sound quality were (far) below par, so that wasn't helping either in the "follow this film" part and actually this movie was superboring. No thrills, no scares, no laughs. Just bad and boring.

Hellraiser: Revelations - arrgh, this was painful to watch. RV posted "Why?" in it's release thread and I understand. This film was so disappointing on almost all fronts, it is incredible. The only little thing that wasn't utter garbage was the twist before the final scene, although they screw it by overexplaining it afterwards. All the rest of the film left a dirty taste in my mouth. Do yourself a favour and don't watch it.

Cowboys And Vampires - this film is actually called Dead West and I suspect the makers/distributors to have renamed it like this because of Cowboys and Aliens. The main character is being interviewed and the film's story is told in flashbacks, this was kind of obsolete, the film didn't gain anything from it, it was only confusing a bit. The storyline is about an actor in wild west shows whose themepark is bought by a mysterious figure who wants to turn it into a ghosthouse-like park. And of course, not all effects are fake. There is a sidestory about the main character's divorced wife and kid, which gives the director a chance to do something cheesy in the end. Almost all actors are overacting, especially the ones who are possessed from a certain point in the film. My judgment however is mild on this one, and I think it is because of the film I saw before this one. Actually this isn't so good, you must be a big fan of cowboyism to enjoy this.

Das Frauenhaus - a gang of women lures horny men into a room where they get gassed into unconsciousness. Then when they wake up they are in some sort of standing cells with obviously fake "torture ceilings". They get taunted with the promise of sex and they are been dripped on with some sort of green goo. It is all very much "wtf?". The women want the men to confess some espionage stuff, but that part of the plot reamins a bit vague (it is Jess Franco after all). Weird and lots of sex. If this is your thing, go watch it.

Damnation Alley - post nuclear war scifi where survivors travel along the deserts in weird vehicles. George Peppard leads them and he looks ridiculous with a fake black moustache which totally doesn't match with his grey hair. There is a cool scene with bugs eating a guy and they get threatened in abar by some bad guy survivors, but that's it. All the rest is actually a roadmovie. Not so spectacular.
