Externinators of the Year 3000 - Italian postnuke apocalyptic Mad Max rip-off. In a world where water is a scarce commodity and the desertlike wastelands are ruled by motorgangs, 10-year old Tommy is forming an unlikely alliance with Alien, a lone warrior who will take it up on him to find the water Tommy's community needs. Tommy gets caught by the motorgang and his bionic arm is being ripped off. When it's mended by a weird mechanic, it turns out Tommy now has superpowers with the arm and can throw stones and other objects at lethal speeds. Alien meets his ex Trash in the meantime and they also form an unlikely alliance. While they are being hunted by the motorgang they try to save the truck with the watertank they found. With an ultrathin storyline, this film is just to show off car chases and futuristic outfits. A shameless vehicle for actionpacked crash and burn scenes with various vintage cars. The only thing missing was the disclaimer at the end that no car was being harmed during the making of this movie. Acting is subpar and the dub is atrocious, but that doesn't matter at all. If you like cars, or post apocalyptic films, this one's for you.

Long Island Cannibal Massacre - a gory slasher with cannibalism from the holy era of horror, 1980. It's a rather low budget production where a police commissioner just wears a blue spencer over a shirt instead of a proper uniform, but hey, who cares if the plot is about some cannibals being fed by the flesh gathered by a masked killer and a long haired biker. A policeman, who has some really dumb dialogue with his girlfriend in this film (she "I didn't understand a word you just said" he "Maybe it's best you don't") is on track to arrest these guys but the commissioner isn't interested so he decides to quit the force and murder all of them. Great idea because now we get to see more blood and gore and various ways of ending people's lives! There is a lawnmowerkill in this, so it gets my blessing for sure! The final scenes are a mix of TCM, Swamp Thing and Hell of the Living Dead. I had great fun, it's B-movie schlock of the highest order, Highly recommended for bad moviefans!

Cavegirl - a nerdy guy is being bullied by a group of classmates. He has an interest in both physics and history so when the class takes a fieldtrip to an abandoned mine he is very enthusiastic. On the fieldtrip he gets lost in a cave and when a helicopter in a military training fires a rocket overhead, he gets transported back in time and ends up in the prehistoric age. When he has accustomed himself a little to his new environment, he meets a sexy girl and is totally overcome by the fact he is not immediately rejected by her so they become friends and he tries to communicate with her. After a while, she and her tribesmen get kidnapped by cannibals so he has to save them. A bit of a kids film this, apart from the fiddling around with the cavegirl's body, although everything you get to see is very far within boundaries, The "nerdiness" is almost slaptiscklike and the sfx are very much 80s. It was mild fun, both for bad moviefans and for children.

Mummy Rebirth - this flick starts with some ancient Egyptian scene in which a couple of lovers get murdered by Narmer's troops who all look like Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of mummification. The film suddenly switches to present day and that's where things go downhill: it becomes a really big pile of poo, there are so many things going wrong. Stupid and hollow dialogue, nonsensical scenes with loads of gunfire and the mix up of different ancient mythologies: Hades, the Greek god of the underworld is mentioned like he is part of the Egyptian world. Very, VERY bad looking cgi monsters (what are they supposed to portray? They look like gargoyles which aren't Egyptian at all), in later scenes you see people who are supposedly Egyptians but they are actually native Americans. The treasure hunters find an ancient book in a stalactite cave whereas Egypt is known for being a very dry country apart from the Nile valley (where there are little to no caves). They end up in a museum where all texts are written in English and Spanish, how did they end up there while they are supposed to still be in Egypt? When the mummies are attacking and the bad guys shoot full clips at them it's useless but when the heroine takes one shot the mummy disintegrates. Smart quotes like "The lost city and everything inside will be lost forever" are common throughout the film. The scenes with bluescreen and cgi monsters in the background reminded me of Doom (the 1990s game) and the ending is pretty sudden. If you want to see a real stinker, or if you plan to watch a bad film with friends and beer, this one's for you. Recommended for bad moviefans!

Eat Local(s) - Sebastian is on a date with a foxy woman but he isn't aware of the fact she is a vampire. When she brings him into the coven, they have to vote in order to turn him, but the obnoxious vampire votes against. Before this brawl can be decided, a group of vampire hunters dashes in, getting wiped within the minute, Outside are their teammates though, and they have the house surrounded by now. A game of cat and mouse develops, and Sebastion is right in the middle of it. Interesting film, rather funny at times and enough gore to go around although I would have loved more. The vampire hunter team getting wiped happens almost entirely in darkness which is making sense on one hand but also a bit of a pity on the other as you don't get to see lots of blood squirting etc. Entertaining film, apparently the directorial debut of Jason Flemyng, the actor you might know from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.Recommended.

47 Metres Down - aka 47 meters Down. I was really in the mood for a sharkmovie and this checked almost all boxes. Two sisters are having a holiday in Mexico where they want to get away from it all and one of the sisters who is a bit shy gets persuaded to do a cagedive with sharks. They don't really know the guys they are going with but the adventure is number one priority so they still go. After the water has been chummed a bit they see the first sharks appear. From this moment on many things go wrong, because great white sharks aren't group animals and there are several around. Also in the diving technical department almost everything goes wrong, so if you are looking for mistakes there you will have a field day. I'm not a dover and I know zero about compression, decompression, nitrogen, depths and diving masks, so I wasn't hindered by any knowledge and that made me enjoy this film a bit better than some authors of  reviews I have read. The sharks look pretty well done even though they were cgi, the trick was mostly to make the water dark so the sharks seemed to appear out of nowhere. The tension in this film comes from the fact that the sisters are being trapped on the oceanfloor, in the rusty cage, surrounded by sharks. I liked the ending, that was pretty original. Against great sharkmovies and the load of rubbish there is featuring sharks, this comes out somewhere in the middle. Not great not bad.

The Creeping Terror - 1960s black and white scifi flick about a spaceship landing in California and the monster which comes out of it. It's some kind of caterpillar which consumes people by incorporating them. The monster is obviously a bunch of men in a costume and the strange thing about this film is that the story is not told by the characters but by a voice over, sometimes interlaced by a single voiceline spoken by an actor. There is actually no real sound in this film, there is a music score playing constantly so when a car drives away you don't hear the engine but the music instead. This was obviously the B-side film in a drive-in because everything is so low quality. Nothing scary, some funny moments with the monster but overall pretty forgettable.

The Dungeon of Harrow - colour film from the 60s where a captain and one of the passengers on his ship are the only two survivors of a shipwreck which leaves them on an island. On the island lives a count who in the beginning of the movie sees an appearance which presents himself as the count's evil side. He appears first in negative colour and then normal, but upon talking of the evil inside the count he produces a rubber cobra, a plastic bat and a very big furry spider, the fakeness of which surpasses the already huge fakeness of the bat and the snake. After this, the film is going downhill imo, as the monsters don't ever appear again and all the horror you are left with are some torture scenes in a dungeon which are rather tame if you ask me. The rest of the scenes are dialogue and some mental gymnastics by some characters which are portrayed by a voice over and an ending which, I must say, is classic. I have seen better Gothic horrors, this is not the worst though but I will probably never watch it again.

A Clockwork Blue - this corny title is given to a weird sexploitation film about Homer, a nerdy researcher who is still on a short leash held by his mum. He travels through time to find out about all sorts of sexual strangeness. He ends up in 18th century France, with the Pilgrims in America, at the court of Henry VIII, with the Vikings, in ancient Greece and Rome. Every journey is full of ambiguous language and sexual activity although in the Viking scene there is only a naked woman strapped to the wall and that's it. In the ancient Greece scene the sirtaki is being played, being not only historically inaccurate but also extremely corny. The models have these typically 1970s sunburnt bodies where you can see the bikini lined out, also pretty anachronistic. This is probably only bearable if you are under the influence and I wasn't, so it was a bit of a bummer. With friends and a keg of beer it might be otherwise. Bad moviefans might have a go.

Bloodlust! - black and white film from the 60s in which a party of two couples get stranded with  their ship close to an island. They immediately venture into the forests on the island, ignoring the warnings of their drunk sailor. Soon enough they run into the master of the island, some kind of an aristocratic figure, hunting for pleasure in the forests surrounding his estate. When they spend the night in the estate, they meet another couple, who tells them they have to escape as soon as possible, or they will be the prey in the next hunt. So they try to find their way off the island, but both their host and his henchmen are out on the prowl to catch them. Very mediocre film with little excitement, very average acting and no sfx to speak of. A nice timefiller for when you are tired because it asks nothing of your mind to keep following the plot.

Becky (2020): A girl (Becky) has recently lost her mother due to some illness. She is taken to a family lake house by her father where she meets his new to be wife and her son. Becky is upset and runs away while a group of criminals arrive that are looking for something hidden in the house. But Becky is a badass girl and attacks the criminals. My biggest problem with this film is that a lot of things are not explained. Why were the criminals looking for that item? What was the connection of the father to them? And once Becky kills the only criminal that was actually trying to help her I also lost sympathy for the main character. Gore-wise this is well done. You can see people getting their eye ripped out which then is hanging there and cut off by a knife. Acting is okay, but nothing extraordinary with the black kid being the weakest imho. Can't really recommend this. I'm not going not watch the sequel.

Death Promise - New York in the 1970s is usually a good setting for some action, and that's what you get in this film. It's a bit of a weird mix: it has kung fu, funky music like in blaxploitations and the main character is Italian. Some rich guys want to tear down an apartment block to build some new real estate and sell it big, but the tenants of the apartments refuse to leave. So some terror is being used to flush them all out, and when the last man standing is murdered, his son vows revenge and goes into training to become an assassin with kung fu skills. There are various ways in which the group of rich guys is being disposed of, I liked the first kill with the bullseye the best because it was rather original. The second was a bit unspectacular, as was the third, although the way to get to that guy was cool. The fourth was the cruelest with the use of rats and the last is being extended a tad too long imo and then that's not even the endfight, because there is a twist and some more fights follow. If you are into martial arts you will enjoy this, bad moviefans might have a nice time too because of the strange mix I described and some goofs during the filming, like you see some crew from time to time. No horror except for that fourth murder, but I had fun.

Candy Stripe Nurses- got The Nurses Collection (from Roger Corman's Cult Classics) as a present so watched the first movie, expecting some sleazy exploitation movie but it turned out differently. Yes, the movie starts out with a couple giving it a go in the "Linen" closet and there are plenty of scenes in which doctors, nurses and patients are focusing on the area down there, but there are also many other scenes in which the movie resembles an actionmovie, or a crimeflick more. The three main nurse characters are being followed as they do their (side)jobs, but they don't interact a lot so you could see this as three different plots. One of them is about a rockstar having trouble getting it up, another is about a basketball team playing against the odds and the last one is about a guy being wrongfully arrested for a holdup at a gas station. This last is the most interesting, as the nurse gets out of the hospital to find the real culprits, a rather dangerous adventure. All in all this was enjoyable, even though it wasn't what I expected. Curious about the other nurses movies, hopefully they are at least as versatile as this one.

The Suckers - advertised as a sexfilled version of "The most dangerous game" you immediately know what the plot will be like but the first scenes might throw you off. The first scene takes place later in time than the second one, and while the changes between scenes make sense overall, they definitely don't between the first two. In the first scene you see a jeep with three women and a man on their way to a job, a job which they receive in the second scene. Also, the cut is really weird: as soon as the doorknob of the wife's bedroomdoor is twisting, the cut takes place. In the now second scene there is a sexscene which takes quite some time so my assumption is that such a scene could not start so soon after the film started rolling, so they simply switched the scenes. Or it's a sloppy mistake, of course also possible. In the second sexscene a bit further in, you can see genitals like in pornmovies, although in porn the dicks are usually hard. Image and soundquality are sometimes below par, to the point where the crackling sounds make part of the dialogue inaudible and where the graphic artefacts almost take over the entire screen (and this is a Vinegar Syndrome release, mind you). Some parts are missing and it's rather obvious: during dialogue you skip to a different dialogue between other people. In the end the opening credits are repeated, including the same images and soundtrack, hilariously bad. Oh, and why is this called The Suckers? No idea! As for editing this is a bad movie goldmine, otherwise it's not very memorable.

The Love Garden - well this had some minimal story, almost unbelievable. Like porn movies have stories just to facilitate the sexscenes, this is just the same, except you don't get to see hardcore sex with explicit images of genitalia at first (this changes later in the film when you get to see both types). A man sits by the pool of an apartmentbuilding and he notices a girl. He is intrigued and searches for her but no luck until he runs into her in the laundromat. After that he meets her again and they kiss in her apartment. Complicating factor is that this girl already has a partner: the girl she was with at the pool. Lots of soft and harder sexscenes, nothing much inbetween. This might have been interesting in the 1970s but in the flood of (soft) porn you can find these days this would have never stood out much. Sometimes the audio is rather inaudible: it sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. With only three characters and little to no variety in the film it's all rather boring,  even though it runs for only 70 minutes. If you have the chance to skip it, do so.

Private Duty Nurses - this film has a bit of a meme as a title, because it suggests way more than you will get. There is of course some T&A, but it is pretty limited and while in Candy Stripe Nurses there was this social issue where a young man got wrongfully accused and a nurse is helping him out, here the social issues are the main course it seems. Pollution of the sea, drug trafficking, racism and PTSD are all part of the story. Motorcycle crossing takes the place of basketball in this one, and combined with his Vietnam War past, the cyclist has not only physical but also mental issues and he has a willing nurse to help him out with it. One other nurse supports a doctor investigating the water quality of the harbour but they get mixed up in drug smuggling and the third nurse is doing an internship for a doctor who is battling segregation in hospital staff. I had more fun with the Candy Stripes because it surprised me more and because this was all rather tame.

Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio - a 70s film which is a mix between a slasher and a soft porn. A detective is investigating a murder, and the investigation brings him to a sanatorium where all nurses are required to follow vivisection lessons where a frog will be dissected, and to wear nothing underneath their nurse's uniform. Some sexscenes and murders later, the detective is getting closer to the solution. Again the scenes with nudity stand out because it's supposed to take place in the early 20th century but all girls have bikini tanned bodies, quite anachronistic if you ask me.The whole setting is meant to look British, but the entire cast is American which sounds a bit wrong. The blood looks very red and fake, some of the kills are pretty creative but overall this is rather tame. It was fun but also a bit forgettable.

Dollman - Charles Band / Full Moon BS, I simply love it. This time we start on the distant planet Arturus, where a hostage situation is handled by Brick Bardo, a mix between Dirty Harry and Snake Plissken. He simply threatens to shoot through people to hit his target, and since this is not what the mayor had in mind, he has to leave for planet Earth for a while. His arch nemesis, a guy with just a head (in previous fights with Brock he lost all his other body parts as we learn later), travels with him unknowingly. Arriving on earth, Brick finds out he is a miniature man compared to the inhabitants of SOuth Brooklyn, the neighbourhood he ended up in. The bad guys trying to get rid of him meet their demise by his superspacegun though. Campy bullshit with tacky oneliners and crappy sfx, I am almost always in for it. Big thumbs up from me and recommended for bad moviefans.

Death by Invitation - eeehm, ok, what did I just watch? Very weird film which starts OK: a witch i being caught and burnt at the stake. Some characters in this sequence look strange, mainly because of the bad make up. After the burning we cut to present day and are thrown into something which seems to have been going for a while without us looking. In this world, Lise is the descendant of the witch and wants to kill the descendants of the ones who made her ancestor burn at the stake. She therefore tells a story about a woman tribe where the women at first were the bosses but they were taken over a by a giant man who then got killed by the women. She then proceeds to murder the person she just told the story but you don't get to see mich if the kill. Boring film with even more boring dialogue, like "I am very much intrigued by you" - " You are?" " I am, didn't you know I was?" - " I don't know" "You don't know? That's strange, you did almost everything possible to turn me on to you from the moment we met" "-I have?" "You have" - "And are you?" "Turned on to you?" -"Turned on to me" " Yes". The repetitiveness almost drove me crazy, the ending was dull and I will forget this movies existence tomorrow I guess. Avoid.

Night Call Nurses - with the tacky (and misleading!) tagline "it's always harder at night", this nurses film revolves around three (and not four like on the cover) nurses: a blonde, a brunette and a black nurse. Like in Private Duty Nurses there are some scenes with skin, but it's all outside the hospital. The nurses in this one get to deal with a criminal patient, one high on drugs and one of them ends up in some sort of hippie group where the leader is doing a psychological experiment, unknown to the nurse. There are some car chases in this one, involving a few cars and even a truck. Weird because it seems like the film changes from nurse film into actionflick. Overall this was again rather tame but the blonde nurse was providing some good eyecandy at least.

House of Mortal Sin - aka The Confessional. I ordered a bunch of new BRs a while ago at 88 films, and this was one of them. Several years ago I watched a bunch of Pete Walker's films like Frightmare and Die Screaming Marianne and I enjoyed them. I wasn't aware which other films he made really, but in my order I had this one and Schizo. I noticed they both are around 105 minutes apparently a favourite length for Walker because he has more films clocking in on that time. Ok, on to this one: it's a creepy and very anticlerical film, Walker usually does some social criticism in his films and also not with very much subtlety. Same gies for this one where a sexually frustrated priest is luring young girls into his presbytery to do things to them whoch you don't get to see but immediately understand while watching. This priest, Father Meldrum, has a one eyed servant and his old mother in the attic for which the servant has to care. A job she hates very much but does anyway. One day Meldrum gets into contact with Jenny Welch, who runs a shop jn antiques with her sister. Whe Meldrum is trying to blackmail Jenny, nobody believes her, not even when people in Jenny's surroundings start to turn up dead. Strong message where most people can't believe that a priest is capable of such things, not even when the evidence seems to mount up. The ending was near perfect, didn't see that coming. I really like multi layered films and this is one of them. Acting, plot, atmosphere, everything is great. Might rewatch the other Walker films soonish. Highly recommended!
