Plot:
One of the worst films to be released to the general public. :beerchug:
A giant octopus is disturbed by radio frequencies conducted by Henry Fonda's business as it seeks revenge on the townsfolk.No one is safe from the long arm of the creature as it takes life after life of the people on land and sea,sucking the skin right off of them.
There is a general saying I have heard from Hollywood that an actor is only as good as his script...no more than that is the case as it is here..but beyond script,it seems the actors were just bludgeoned into making this film.John Huston just rolls his eyes and walks off in disgust at Shelly Winters incoherent ramblings.As with all of Shelly's movies done in the 70's there is the mandatory fat joke told to her by a small child.The octopus looks,well.... it looks like a huge mound of shit with eyes floating in water.The Last Shark has more budget behind the sea monster than this film,possibly because most of the money was paid out to the actors who I am convinced were all there against their will.
Something I found rather amusing though.as far as actual plot this film parallels Shark Attack 3 in so many ways that I am suprised no one got sued,also a complete bite on Last Sharks windsurfing race except this is sail boating.
With all that beeing said,I would recomend this film highly,not much makes me laugh more and at the same time just drop my jaw in awe at the level of incoherent jibberish than this movie.For all those that love bad movies then this should be on your A list for sure.No real gore in this film but it doesn't really matter as it would have been done poorly anyways probably :mrgreen:
Made by the same guy who gave us Beyond the Door,,a movie that I am still in contemplation about in rather to pay the money for it or not. :beerchug: :D :mrgreen:

Yeah, every other movie here is advertised by this slogan. But I always buy it! (well, not literally)

@grindhouse
Yeah,one can only wish.I have seen stranger things released on DvD that is for sure.The full screen version is not very good..but its the only release i think available at least to my knowledge
@Polytik
I agree,I suppose it is getting cliche' as of late,but in this case unbearably true.I have sat through 3 viewings this week and have pretty well disected the movie down so I may sound a bit critical of the film but it truely has to be seen to beleived if you have never seen it before. :mrgreen:

:mrgreen: She actually returns in that very same role,no heart attack this time though. :evil: The scenes with her are probably the hardest to bear in this film especially with the overvolumed music behind her.The part where she says goodbye to the kids before sending them away for dinner with the octopus was very touching.I was moved deeply.I am a sucker for those 70's type disaster,erwin allen type flicks though,he knew how to make anyone look bad:)

Hehehe, :mrgreen:
Yeah,any misdeeds done to the whale in Orca are erased here that is for sure. :wink:
I honestly think they threw an octopus in a tank and got toy whales to attack it.Anything else would have been beyond their budget.Notice that the whale attack scenes are rather muddy looking but when they switch to the divers the film looks clear?Speaking of that,nothing like a 5 minute crash course in Divers safety procedures to really grab the viewer by the throat in its climax. :lol:

Perhaps they are trying to get the effect of the Octopus spraying dye in the water..whatever the case it's pretty damned hilarious.Henry Fonda's masterpeice on celuloid :P

To the bin it goes....just a side note here...I rewatched this the other night and there was a line in the movie that seemed to sum up the entire plot.
"It's an animal....Disturbed by mans stupidity".
I think that pretty much says it all. :mrgreen: Should have been the tagline.
