NTL, thaey enforcing that stupid cap of 1 gig a day?

What OS ya got, I got max connections set to 1000, max sources set to 1500, max new connections per 5 seconds to 100, I have 32K up and limit it to 25, I have found this allows me to download at a decent speed and still surf etc I have a 2 meg connection so if I use the full download I eat up a fair whack of the upstream, but I have my fingers crossed I will soon be able to get more upload, I sometimes feel a little guilty that I can get the stuff so damn fast and it takes me so long to give back what I get.

The only thing I will say is that I believe earlier MS OS's "may" have trouble with too many simultaneous connections, altho I have not experienced this first hand as I have had XP Pro since I started using P2P in a big way.

That is around half ya max download, it aint too bad. You have to bare in mind that the mule is rarely that fast, especially when you are getting these horror titles and the number of users is fairly small.

How new are you to mule life? Have you built up a decent credit base? Do you try to keep the same userhash when you upgrade clients?

I think it is the preferneces.dat file, and maybe the crypt somthing or other needs to be kept, someone else here will be able to tell I am sure.

Sygate is ok, although you should disable the standard XP "firewall". On the side, your posts would be much easier to read if you used punctuation.

You're never going to get full speed 24/7 with the ed2k network. Its just one of the perks of using the reliable network, slow and steady wins the race :)

Yep, try changing the ports mule uses too, it helped me for some reason. Maybe ya ISP blocks some ports?

Like the person said, slow and steady wins the race, I tend to leave the mule running in the background whilest I do other shit.

I get over 100Kbps every now and again (NTL 1mb line)

I'm happy (now) with emule's performance, but it took one hell of a lot of tweaking to get there :(

I really want to use eMule, being that it's open source and has no banners, etc... but I just get the worst performance from it every time I try, compared to the edonkey2000 hybrid client. I've tried raising the connections, allowing more upload bandwidth, etc., but it's still so slow compared to the standard client. I'm not firewalled or anything, and like I said, the official client works well.

am I just being too impatient? I've waited for hours and days, only have maybe 20 mb of a well-sourced file come across. Is it that I haven't built up enough credits yet?? Doesn't the standard client use credits too?

there are lots of threads about this, but I see so many emule users on the network compared to ed2k users, so I think I must be doing something wrong.

currently I'm trying the eMule0.40f26-LSD15dRC2-bin client, with little success. previously I was using eMule0.41a10_TheBlackHand-Kad_v7_Bin which had a similar performance.

any suggestions?? until then, I guess I'll just stick with this edonkey2000 v0.52.3 beta client which is pretty nice.
