Hi,
this is the second time I try to release something. Nothing special, basically I tried to concatenate the Mr. Vampire files I got from AMED 2K and recoded them to fit on one CD. I did it for myself, because vcdimager refused to create correct VCD images, something wrong with their .mpg format, I think. Additionally I don't like switching while watching, too. The original quality was not the best, but I don't think it got noticeable worse through the recoding. So if you still like it, get it. It is more comedy than horror, and unlike in the parts 1,2, and 5 I found nothing, which came even close to something, which could be called 'Vampire'. But this is nitpicking ;-) It is english/chinese hard subbed.

Mr.Vampire.III.avi

Hi Spud,
recommend seeing this film? Hard to say. This is _horror_ has a home and not _comedy_ has a home. So if you expect a serious vampire movie: no. But else this series really is fun to watch. But you should not start with part 3. Part one is the best. Part 4 the is the weakest, I think. Nevertheless the five parts are not related, except for the hopping vampires. And even those are missing in part 4.

In the meantime I also "condensed" part 2 and part 4:

Mr.Vampire.II.avi

Mr.Vampire.IV.avi

Don't wait for part 1 and 5 from me. They are already available as one CD release. ;-)

Don't mean to put you down wargand, but I've only seen the first one and was not impressed. I found it to be really lame banana-peel-sliding humor like Sammo Hung (is he in this?).
If that's the best of the series then I'm not bothering getting any of the sequels.

Why do you think you could put me down? ;-)
Actually I do understand you. That's why I was first a bit reluctant to post the link here. I really don't view this as a horror movie, but on the other hand, I don't view all movies in the main list as horror movies either (Beetlejuice).

The Mr. Vampire series really is a cheap HK production. There is no doubt about it. The usual kung fu fight scenes, the usual shallow humor. But I am not always in the mood to see films like "Versus", "Ringu x" or "Rasen". <-- If somenone did not notice, yet. I am currently interested in asian horror. Must be because I have already seen 99.9% of all the other horror listed here + some more ;-)
(btw. some more, does somebody know the film "dead heat"? Seen in somewhere in donkey? This one really is missing in the main list.)

Nevertheless, if someone really is a but curious in HK horror films and does not like Mr. Vampire, he should try the " A Chinese Ghoststory" series. This one I really can recommend. Still quite some comedy elements in it, but _much_ better story and a much higher budget, so they are at least not a _cheap_ HK production ;-)

GREAT! I'm also very much into asian films, and know there are some more of us here.
I guess you must have seen 'Kairo' & 'Cure' then? Those are some of the best asian horror I've seen. I also actually much prefered 'The Eye' to the Ringu movies. Although the ending kinda let go of the horror and went into sci-fi or something.. someone said it was like they all of a sudden found a bag full of money and decided to use them all on special effects....

I must say I aslo have some veird kind of respect for the 'Guinea Pig' series, cause they are probably the most realistic things ever made. I remember when I first got ahold of 'Flower of flesh and blood' it was on an unlabled old vhs, without the titles or credits or even subs. you could bareley see what was going on and I (like Charlie Cheen) was almost sure this was a snuff film I'd gotten my hands on... damn I was spooked.
The 'Men Behind the Sun' serie is also quite appalling.

Offcource you can't talk about asian horror without mentioning Takashi Miike. his movies are just over the top. Ichi the Killer was amazing, as was Audition (and I must say I really liked 'City of Lost Souls' too).

I find many Asian flicks are just super wierd though, like 'Tetsuo - The Ironman' or 'Evil Death Trap'.

most recently I just dl the thai movie '303 - Fear Faith Revenge' but haven't gotten time to watch it yet. just hope it's better than the amazingly shitty '999-9999'. =)

Not quite. I am not yet _very_ much into asian films, but I am doing my best :-)
Mostly because I am a bit tired of the usual western stuff. Usually I can tell the end half an hour before it happens.

I prefer the Ringu movies. But that has another reason: I slightly understand Japanese. Not that much that I understand much without subs, but enough that japanese films are more fun to watch than korean or chinese for me.

This is absolutely no problem for me.....

.... because I don't like realism. I am not really into horror, but generally into phantastic films: horror, fantasy, SF. Though with a strong focus on horror. BUT, and this is important, it has to be phantastic. You mentionend 'Guinea Pig'. I saw part one (The Devil's Experiment) and found it quite boring. As I do with the majoriy of films with no supernatural background (there are exceptions).

Doubt I would like it. I have no problems with even the hardest splatter and gore, but please wrap it into a nice story :-)

Nope, nothing for me. No demons, no secrets, no magic, no monsters...erm, ok, monsters, but only human ones.

Sometimes I am not sure, whether the films are really super wierd, or just that bad translated, that even the producer would find them wierd.

oh course it isn't out and out horror, definitely. The reason i put films like that on the list is because if i had to do reviews for just plain horror i'd go insane, have to discount some of my favourite macarbe films and even if is small on horror it still has a home. Can't go having any homeless films... same goes for one of my personal favourite sub genre films --> Ghostbusters :) I know you were crticising, just explaining myself

/me bundles the suitcases of cash out the bag window

:)

Thanks for the heads up Doe, I'll still download though :)
