well this seems 2 b a hot topic!! personally have been using SR for a coupla years or so now (was the 1st ed2k hash site i stumbled upon) and have had sum great stuff from there. was a great site at 1 point but as the donkey network became more popular it kinda ground 2 a halt.
4 those ov U who say there was no improvement in speed, wot U talkin bout!? at one point i couldnt access the site at all 4 ova 2 weeks due 2 heavy traffik, surely waiting 30 seconds 4 a page 2 load was a serious improvement!!!
havent used it so much since i found HHAH and have been using FH for more mainstream stuff 4 quite a while. but it is the only site that comprehensively covered console (read PS2) games:(
not sure what is goin on really so spose will just have 2 wait and C. if it is gone 4eva it WILL B missed. it it comes back, great!!

oh and 2 those who slaggin off bout the donatins THAT IS WHAT THEY WERE, DONATIONS!! no1 was forced 2 give and i sure that what was given could B missed else woldnt have been given AND HOW MUCH HAVE PPL SAVED WITH THE DOWNLOADS FROM SR NEWAY?

my tuppence worth :)

The speed increase was gained by turning the images off, nothing more as far as I could tell.
I don't have a problem with people donating IF the money was used for it's stated purpose, SM was VERY coy about providing proof he'd bought anything (he locked the topic when he was asked more than once). I just thought it was a bit off to collect ~$15000 and for the users to see either no or very little improvement in speed.
The point about saving money because of SR is a moot point, those links existed because of the users of SR (and by extension Emule) NOT because of SR itself, if SR didn't exist then the users would be posting elsewhere anyway, I started off releasing at SR and continued to do so until it closed, if it didn't exist, I would (and now have to) post links elsewhere, I wouldn't NOT share.

I would be sorry to see SR go (I wrote a comprehensive and easy guide to softmodding the xbox which was stickied there and didn't back it up :( ), but if it did I wouldn't be the end of the world.

Oh dear indeed, maybe he should use the cash for a decent legal defence. I still do not think he spent all that cash on a server tho, all thos eppl hassleing him, why not just scan some of the receipts and put them online for all to see?

hey spud, you shitting ya pants yet matey? If they come for you I will attack with my Ninja death squad, and hit them with my swingball.

contains an official statement from the swiss canton of thurgau, the place where the SR servers were. simon moon is in police custody and will have to be on trial. so, he's the one who's fucked, not the SR users. :(

I told you that someone would make an announcement as soon as they could ;)

Anyways, its a shame. Hopefully this won't make companies think they can take a pot shot at every site going.

I only got one thing to say, fight the power. Damn those cunts, they piss me off. I would gladly pay a pound or two to officially download these films, but these damn companies are so obsessed with screwing the customers outta cash they ignore this idea. How much would it cost them to have a set up like this? Prolly a pitance compared to the current manufacturing and distribution setup they have now.

FUCK THEM ALL TO THE DEEPEST PITS OF HADES!

We pay license fees, I doubt BBC could do sweet f*ck all. Technically I paid for the production and for the DVD

For that reason they don't go after people knife, gun and sexual transmitted diseases. Or at least I hope they don't

@ohgod, what difference would it make if they knew who clicked what? It don't prove anything other than you clicked a link, no proof to say you downed the entire file.

i seem to remember about a year or so ago when most of the main releasers left, for reasons i wont go into now, that Mr Moon, i'll call him that, had been visited and questioned at length about the site and the releasers. I know what he told them then, but i won't go into it (sorry i'm being a bit covert), but at the end of the day they couldn't touch him 'cos he never hosted any files. So unless theres been a change in the law, and i don't think the new euro laws they just passed cover it, i think there just trying to scare him and keep hold of his gear while they 'investigate and analyse' it for several months to keep the site down.

I hope he never d/l anything himself, not much chance of that tho

But seriously SR, FN, svcdplaza where is it gonna end?

Spud get your servers moved to Cuba or Palestine or something :-o

oh? elaborate please...

But is simon actually in custody now? I don't like to give away money like this on the net but that would be a cause I'd gladly donate money to if it would help get him out/a good lawyer ect. With the million or so users SR had all chipping in a dime or two to help Simon...

btw, is there any danger this might happen here too?

eh, i like sharereactor, i hope it gets back up. i dont visit it much.
i got nothing against that simon moon, but
i think he doesnt like me much, called me stupid or something along those lines of paranoid dickhead causing damage thru my paranoid theories. i vaguely remember, but it may have been someone else. i get that alot.

ah, even if he just did ask for all those donations, kept the money and closed the site, eh, so what. sites go down, maybe s.m. got a regular job/spouse/killed. maybe the mpaa/riaa/cria/fbi/cia got him, just got sick of the internet p2p crap, or maybe as i suspected all along, simon moon is actually martha steward.
