I still get cams if I reckon I will really like the film, in a way it is good cos if I like the film I will spend a bit of time digesting the storylines, and then when I get a dvd rip or buy the dvd I spend a good time watching it again and spending less time following the story and more time watching the movie itself.

Only problem with the above is not many films are that good nowadays. Bubba hotep was good, but not that good, DOTD I reckon will be, aswell as Shaun of the dead, that will be one fuckin funny film.

but atleast it seems they wont spend the first hour "getting to know" the characters and will jump right in.

imo, they spent too long touchy feely even in that extremely short clip... I didn't watch it all, cos quite frankly it didn't even catch my interest. Just skipped to the extremely fake blood :D. In contrast, Dawn of the Dead (the proper one) is in tormoil right off the bat... that's one of the reasons I liked it so much.

lets face it, the original in most (not Dxa's :P ) ppl's eyes is unsurpassable and never will be  but i hope this new influx of zombie movies we've had lately is going to make the movie companies realise there is a seriously large number of zombie followers out here desperate to see something NEW that can be a milestone in the genre like NOTLD was all those years back :beerchug:

i agree with bassline, there can be no such thing as too many good zombie movies (i exclude zombie nightmare from that list as its bollocks).

Question... Would you Horror afficionados class silent hill as zombie horror? and if it is who would like a movie based around it?

Shawn of the Dead is the one I'm looking forward to seeing personally... infact its the one most non-horror fans have been chatting about too

I'm hoping its gorey and funny enough to be a classic :)

Although I thought the games were complete gash, i loved the art work.

If i recall correctly, no they weren't zombies.... but I can't say the game left an impression on me so I can barely remember what happened in the first. Resident Evil on the other hands are zombies through and through. :)

Stupid asshole movie execs just had to go ruin the Dawn of the Dead name... Oh well... if it isnt low budget and not produced by Romero, I could care less to see it... how do you capture the emotions like the first one did ? You don't... the movie might as well be called anything.. cause you know the only similarities is the name only.. way to butcher a classic! :eatthis:

Kinda hard to make a classic today when the youth have an attention span of a banana..

ps: i dont think my opinion on lotr is flaming (as its not being mean to a person) but if it is sorry but... meh

No, it's not flaming, it's expressing your opinion on the movie.
I have just seen the preview of DotD and don't think it's going to be a bad zombie flick, as long as you don't think about it as a remake. I'm going to treat it as a completely different movie, without making any references to the original, and that's the only way I'll be able to enjoy it.

I don't know, movies based on computer games usually suck badly...

your just remembering the bad examples like Super Mario Brothers, Parasite Eve (anime movie), Tekken (anime movie), Streetfighter, Tomb Raider etc

but resident evil wasnt *that* bad and of course theres the mortal kombat movies which were cool (imo)

so theres still some hope for movies based around games, from what i hear theyre also making alone in the dark (starring christian slater and tara reid) into a game, that could go either way.

As I said, I really liked the preview.

I'd vote for making this the official DotD thread and sticking to it, we've had a few of them recently. So if you want to discuss this movie, please do it here.
