and some literature:
http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/advent ... 91563.html
(still think it would be better on PC with network play and mods Although I think the resident evil franchise is one of the adventure game 'exceptions'. Still Alone in the Dark managed just fine)

Hey i just found the official homepage:
http://www.capcom.co.jp/bio4/
Some very nice and atmospheric flash animation but japanee text
If you click Features then "higgley-de-piggledy-meso-sowwy" (first option) its like a picture and text storyline run through. Last option is some screenshots. You can now aim with your gun fps style *i think* and the red dot sight looks shit hot.
heres an old trailer of the game (realtime though not fmv its from last year mind but ingame graphics... ohgo you'll like this, its all from the mansion )
http://216.127.90.3/movies/biohazard4320.zip
edit:
Holy crap, lol they are carrying tourches!
I also found this 'video' of the game in motion. The catch is its lowQ and its an animated gif, but it shows the gameplay in motion:
http://videogamesmedia.com/gcn/resident ... hazard.gif
It looks great but its 1.2mb so i didn't want to post it here directly. Give it a whirl!

my thoughts exactly
ps. you were talking about using it as a baracade or blowing its kneecaps off with your beretta not having sexual relations right?
Did you watch the video clip? Blowing holes in doors and windows with shotguns is cool!

lol, na neither does the door salesman at B&Qs, or so the cease and desist order I got from the police says.
This ones a curious one. It's the first Resident Evil that's totally 3d with a proper dynamic camera. The first one where you can actively move to first person mode. The gameplay seems more frantic, looking at the movie its very much like a zombie movie. Capcom are moving from the 'known' territory and I think it maybe the right move to make. As far as the solid state camera games goes, I think they just about did it. Resident Evil remake is top class, and I can't think of many improvements on that style of game beyond storylines, voice acting and other such 'non-elements'.
It has the mix of having appealing gameplay (or at least it looks cool), graphics (for the plebs) and being horror (aka. commander cool), so i'm very hopeful at this stage. Plus with resident evil being an adventure game (my favourite sub-genre). I'm hoping this will be one of the, unfortunately very few, really great games this 'generation'.
Should get some playback soon, its showing in an advanced playable form at E3.
I do wonder how long this 'exclusivity' malarky will last though, I'm not sure how much money capcom made from the GBA and the zelda game they made (although I suspect it was a huge amount, the Zelda games were best sellers for ages, and with their ported arcade and snes games, they seem to be doing well), but the production cost for this resident evil game looks absolutely enourmous.

Well,I was thinking of both actually ...I remember in diablo they had a cow but you couldn't do anything with it except make it moo.In unreal they had the rabbit looking things that you could stomp on but that is all the use they could have.
Haven't watched the movie yet,I will tonight and let you know what I think...as far as I can tell though it looks great.I know that HL2 is going to have the blasting threw doors and walls feature making it pretty open ended as far as what you can do to attack.Basically trying to come as close to realistic as possible.

I ended up downlading the .mov file since the gif was buggy for me....Gameplay looks tight...Pretty fast action compared to the others in the series.Blow a hole threw a wall then blow away 3 zombies with your shotgun...what can be better?

personally i too cant wait for resident evil 4 but wait i dont own (and never will coz theyre shit) gamecube but seeing as nintendo only have the resident evil license to make 3 games re4 will be theyre last before capcom is realising games again for a decent platform (ps2) re 1,2,3 remake, re0 and re4 = 5games and once capcom is back with the ps2 we know theyre gonna port over re0 and re4 probably within a few months so im not really worried that i wont get to play them for not owning a gc, but with regards to the pc/console gaming debate i personally feel resident evil type games, driving/racing games are suited to consoles not pc, whereas fps adventure and most other games are perfectly pc suited, i mean who in theyre right mind would prefer to play a medal of honor game with a console pad rather then a lovely mouse and keyboard combo.
also imo resident evil 2 is the best by miles, followed (very closely) by code veronica (claire redfield is my fave resident evil character which might make me biased) , then re3 and then 1 (i havent played the remake so i cant comment on that)
ps: i realise my post might seem somewhat cynical and nasty towards certain consoles that arent big black and have sony on them but that was never my intention, jsut stating my opinion on the subject, and i LOVE resident evil

Xbox is probably a better bet (or a more favourable one), i'd say all three maybe in a year or two. Or if i'm being hopeful, four! The PC would sit well with this game... what? A man can dream!

Download the video, it is not like any other resident evil game. It's completely 3d with dynamic camera. Else I'd have probably agreed. It all rests on how responsive the controls need to be, and it looks like another GTA3, whilst perfectly adequet with a pad, it would be better with more accurate controls. Bare in mind this game is now first person too (i think i posted a preview earlier, check it out). I've seen in one of the demos too, it goes into first person mode and you can pop the zombies in the knees. Also, notice in the video clip above how he aims the machine guns down at the zombies. IMO its seeming more and more suited to a pc. No way, resident evil was far, far, far inferior even to Resident Evil vanilla, let alone Resident Evil: Director's cut. They are basically the same run of the mill game though. Resident evil remake beats the crap out of all of them put together, 1 through 3, + CV and 0. I love Resident Evil depending on the game though, unfortunately some of them are plain crap; survivor, some of them are okay but tired 3, two of them are top class (1 and 2), one of them is decent enough and then one of them is the best Resident Evil: Remake.
The first one has the best story, the best atmosphere and I got the most enjoyment out of it.

console-gaming sounds at least a lot less geekier than on the pc...
but what i would really like to know about RE4 is, DO THEY STILL MOVE LIKE FRIGGIN TANKS?
seriously the controls are the worst thing ever, even worse is that RE was so successful that a million games had to copy it. for those that don?t know: pressing right or left maks the character turn...slooooooooooowly, pressing up makes them move forward.

Take a look at the video clip further up and have a guess. The bastard possessed hillbillies are chasing you! emoboy wrote: | seriously the controls are the worst thing ever, even worse is that RE was so successful that a million games had to copy it. for those that don?t know: pressing right or left maks the character turn...slooooooooooowly, pressing up makes them move forward. |
Controls for the remake and veronica were much better, but this one is totally analogue and fps. Take a look at the video clip, it does show a lot of ingame footage to give you a feel.

Still Resident Evil owned despite the poor controls, yet people refuse to acknowledge that Rampage on the master system is better.... some people

Some kind of related news:
Quote: | Capcom Forms New Studio Get set for games from Clover Studio. March 30, 2004 - As part of its efforts to raise new revenue in the face of losses, Capcom has announced plans to split off a section of its current development pool into a new child company called Clover Studio. The studio will be 100% owned by Capcom and financed with 90,000,000 yen in capital. Headquarters will be in Osaka, near Capcom's current head office.
The list of names mentioned in connection with Clover Studio seems to spell good things for future titles. Heading up the studio as the president and CEO will be Viewtiful Joe producer Atsushi Inaba. Others inheriting management roles include Kenzo Tsujimoto (Mega Man, Street Fighter and also the current chairman and president of Capcom), Ryuta Takahashi (Resident Evil), Shinji Utsunomiya (Devil May Cry), Haruhiro Tsujimoto, Tamio Oda and Yoshifumi Yamashita (Zelda). The company will employ sixty-four people.
Clover Studio will open up business on the first of July. |
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/502/502931p1.htmlAnd now back to RE4: Quote: | Fresh Resident Evil 4 Trailer Brand-new, the first lovely footage of the revamped RE4 has arrived. Must click! profile :: Resident Evil 4 links :: guide faqs cheats boards previews reviews news features 49.99 ..
March 29, 2004 - It's been a long road for Capcom's true next-generation sequel to its Resident Evil franchise. We've seen the remakes come and go, but the much-anticipated new chapter Resident Evil 4 has only been previewed in scarce form since it was first announced over three years ago. We've seen a few trailers, one in late 2002, and another at 2003's E3 show, but if you've followed the recent development regarding RE4, you'll know they don't matter anymore.
RE4 has been completely revamped and is nothing like its predecessors. The title itself has undergone a complete transformation since Capcom showed it in motion at E3 one year ago. That old game is gone. You can read our coverage of the reborn title by clicking here and here. We've told you this, but now you can finally see it in all its glory. This is the first direct-feed. Courtesy of a special DVD Famitsu Wave has put out in Japan.
The trailer shows off many of the moments we've detailed. Mostly, it's just more proof that this is one of the most beautiful next-generation games coming down the pike, and an awesome demonstration of how cool and action-oriented Resident Evil has become. Watch, drool, and take noting that the entire trailer is in real-time. There is, in fact, no full-motion video or pre-rendered sequences at all in Resident Evil 4.
If you've been doubting how great it is to be a GameCube owner, this four-minute direct-feed trailer is a fine reality check. IGN has compressed the movie in multiple formats and sizes. A streaming Windows Media version is free for all to download. Insiders can feast their eyes on a crispier 320x240 sized QuickTime version and high-bandwidth users can download the ultimate, a 640x480 sized direct-feed -- the cleanest, prettiest version available on the Web.
Click on the strip above to download the trailer
We realize that not all of you have the speed or ability to download the high-res versions of the video and with this in mind we've also snapped 25 new screenshots direct from the trailer. Please note that the screens will not be as high quality as ones previously released by Capcom.
Special thanks to Jonnyram and Sp0rk from the Gaming-Age forum for capturing the original Famitsu Wave feed. Thanks to Tenguman and Polaris for providing an alternate version. IGN has since captured its own, higher-quality feed of the title. |

it will come to PC... it will come to PC...
It worked for Dorothy damn it PS2 seems like a good bet. However, at the end of that trailer it does linger on about the gamecube, so i'm wondering if its going to be ages after

Capcom signed an exclusivity deal with Nintendo for 3(IIRC) resident evil titles to be exclusive to GC, so I'd be suprised if this came out for anything other than GC
