PC is normally excluded from these deals

Although what am I talking about I got a GameCube!

I know all this exclusivity stuff is good for them, but kida harsh on people that can't afford to buy all the consoles, or just plain don't like certain ones.

Great thread and looking forward to the game.

Will download that vid link spud when I get home!

Good point, but at least this wont end up on the PS2 :)

Although having said that capcom are fairly patchy about PC support anyway.

yeah but at least they *eventually* ported resident evil 1 through 3.

This new resident evil is like a T-strain mutated max payne. Reminded me a bit like Shenmu in places too (for those that watch the video clip, noticed the screen button to perform actions, and the big fish rapid green tap to swim type deal)

i wonder in how far it will advance the RE mythology though, as of the trailer it looks kinda similar to part 1, as being in a very enclosed setting, none of that globe-spawnin-gumbrella-conspiracy thing like Code: Veronica.

*SPOILERS*

Its set after all the resident evil games, umbrella has been closed down by the US government after the T-strain got out and f*cked up Raccoon city. However, a terrorist organisation has stolen the bioagent and is threatening to release it. You play Leon from Resident Evil 2 and are a body guard who is about to be hired to protect the presidents daughter, however she is kidnapped before you get the job. The virus is a mutation, it attacks the brain and works more like possession (hence the people act skitzo).

Pretty close

Quote:
**WARNING: STORYLINE SPOILERS**

Resident Evil 4 takes place in 2006, a full four years after the events of RE2. Leon is hired by the president to guard his daughter. Before he can take the job, she is kidnapped and taken to a village in South America where all the villagers hunt him down in an eerie trance. These villagers replace the traditional RE zombies, and act much smarter and more like humans, although they apparently still thirst for human brains. There will be women and children villagers as well, and the line between who is safe and who isn't will be much more blurred than it has been in the past. It appears that the Umbrella Corporation doesn't play a role in the title at all.

According to that article the game is widescreen too, so you have to play it in letterbox on normal tvs

with re4 seeming to be a lot first person maybe that one will be better for pc aswell, but the other res evils are suitable more for console, as on pc the control system jsut doesnt work, plus im too lazy to buy a pad for my pc lol, resident evil outbreak would be a good one for pc as its the first multiplayer resident evil and we all know for online/lan multiplayer gaming nothing beats a pc, plus when u die in re outbreak u can rise again as one fo the undead and hunt down your former friends  and teach them a lesson on why they shouldnt have left you behind hehe

He'll be talking about RE4, outbreak has been only mentioned in passing, and if i recall correctly, he has a cube ;)
Trailer says 2004, they said around august 2004 in Japan, quickly ported to USA in 2004 hopefully and first quarter 2005 PAL. A more suitable date will be announced at E3 though, which happens pretty soon. Should be one of the stand out games this year, it will be in a playable form so there'll also be lots of media feedback.

Outbreak is now pretty much, then I think it was august or september PAL, but I haven't checked what the latest is.

For about ?10 you can get an adapter to plug your ps2 pad in. Better than using any pc pad will be / is, probably because sony spent a packet designed the psx pad in the first place.

I got my Gamecube pad plugged in to my monitor and use that for adventure games (and using an app called JoytoKey can control windows with it).

bump for a new video of resident evil 4. Its the us trailer, which is just a new sound mix (metal) and a bit of information, ontop of the Japanese one.
http://streamingmovies.ign.com/cube/re4 ... wmvlow.wmv

Says the american release date is "Winter 2004"

?150

Gamecube rrp is only ?74.99, and no where except ripoff merchants like amazon sell things at full rrp nowadays. You can get a second hand one for sub ?50 easily practically anywhere of merit.

The game itself will be more expensive than the console, knowing capcom it will be ?40 (although RE:remake is rrp ?20, launched at ?35). If your crazy enough to pay full retail for them, tour still not looking at ?150. You can get all the resident evil 2nd hand and a full retail of RE4 and the console for that sum.

Realistically, when RE4 comes out your looking at a max of ?80 (for that and a cube) if you were to take the plunge methinks. Hell look at ebay, they don't cost very much at all:
http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search. ... y=gamecube

For about ?50 u get a few games, extra pad, etc.

I wouldn't spend over ?100 on any console nowadays, the current crop aren't worth it besides maybe the xbox, and that's only as a media player

I was going to sell my cube after I completed zelda, but it just wasn't worth it. The RRP is so low that I'd only get ?50 if i ripped someone off so I ended up keeping it. Probably a good thing because i ended up getting Mario Kart and F-zero cheap :)

Still none of my consoles get any playtime at the moment; pc if anything so i live in hope that another quality game will be released sooner or later (hence the repeated posting in this thread  )

From: ftp://ftp.futurenet.co.uk/pub/dailyrada ... e3_2k4.mov
Size: 23.1 MB (24,184,562 bytes)

E4 3min or so preview.

Edit: Must see... looks absolutely beautiful. Explains the story... this one is a proper trailer. Lots more environments, lot more interactivity, more weapons etc. :)
