Right first it's strange that this 700mb + file was downed within 3 hours ..... now it won't play.....

windows media (with just about every codec imaginable) just gives usual objections , power dvd completely crashes.....

what's really weird is that altough it said it was downing at 0.9 / 1.4 kb/s, my HD went overdrive and the "completed" collumm was giving speeds I can only estimate at 50 kb/s

Just a corrupt file then ?

try making a vcd or svcd.

Sometimes nero fixes the problem.

I had this the other day with an .avi
try opening it in a hex editor, if it's blank / all the same character, it's a fake. otherwise see if VLC can play it.

I have media player classic on my PC, only use it for QT and Real files tho, but it has been successfull for me in the past with dodgy files.

Give this prog a try. Has worked for me before. Just did a test... renamed a .mpg to a .rar and it correctly identified it as a .mpg.

One time this happened and I renamed it with a .bin extension since that is what it was in the first place and had gotten renamed along the way.you might try vcd gear and stream it for bad sectors as well
