i think is the same old story over and over, we got the same with audio cassettes with warnings like 'home taping kills music' splattered all over LP dust sleeves, all the ads and campaigns but did it kill off the music industry? NO!!. then all those warnings about video piracy when video came about. then all the shit with napster. i think as soon as the bosses of MPAA RIAA etc get enuf cash in the bank 2 have 2 or 3 carribean hols a year each for the rest of their lives we wont hear another peep from them :D

basically as long as the current situation with prices that are kept inflated & rip off dvds (why sould we be expected to pay?20 for a dvd 3 or 4 times over just cause we were denied teh full goods in the 1st place (eg bare bones dvd, special ed dvd, collectors ed, directors cut ed blah blah) ) there will be piracy, if they shut current file swapping/p2p soft down ppl will just move onto the next app/medium.

eh, but unlike in the time when audio cassettes and vhs/betamax where a concern, the mpaa/riaa didnt have the resources or technology to do what they are doing now.

These are all just scare tactics,I ain't worried..and if they do by chance kill edk or whatever there will be another one to take it's place..They tried with napster and now we have soulseek and opennap.Same thing applies here. The government raiding my house and finding all my moives, videos, and mp3's are the least of my worries...just so long as they don't check under my front porch :-o

I agree with you that this are just scare tactics, but the thing that reallt pisses me off is that they are fukkin with the ed2k sites like SR, Filenuxes, buck tv to name a few

That's making things a little more difficult but as i said many times before this is a unstoppable medium.

Eh? Have you heard the charts lately? I'd say home taping killed the music industry stone dead. Or maybe it was Pop Idol :P

There's an interesting article on that very thing in this months PCformat, the Music industry use the fact that Tape and Vinyl sales are falling to try and prove sales are down due to P2P whilst also releasing less albums (and those they do release are predominantly crap).
