I'm consitantly getting crc errors when I burn. It says 'write successfull' but the verification finds errors. not always, but enough to be damn anoying. I'm getting it with various types of media (even Verbatim) so I'm pretty sure it's not the cds.

I'm thinking it might've been the firmware? So what version are you guys using? Now I have 10a installed.

Strange. Perhaps your burner is broken. I have the same for month and never had a burned media, yet. Don't ask me about firmware version. I never upgraded. My burn program tells me 1.05.

Mine's been playing up a bit recently too :(

Iwent through a phase of getting "power calibration errors" and misburning as well. Seems to be OK now though

@jd

If you're using nero, there was (is?) a bug that caused verify error even if there was none (test with compare files in Total Commander if you're burning avis).

I have read about burner progs burning crc errors on purpose in case of an invalid serial etc, not sure about the truth of that rumor though.

You could try making an image instead of burning and burn with dvddecryptor. It burns everything including bin/cue, not just dvd.

edit: im using v1.09 on my nec 1300a. No probs at all.

Good points but the thing is there actually ARE errors. Some files wont read afterwards. And since this just happened with Pinacle Instant Copy as well, I'm pretty sure it's not nero's fault. A friend suggested the very simple "maybe avoid burning at 4x?" and I guess I'll give it a go.

Just installed 1.09 myself, but haven't burned anything yet.

I do in general, but not everytime when first started burning!

But now I verify every record.

Infact I burnt Star Wars dvd to DVDR and the verify failed last night

Copy the files back to the HD, if they copy back then they're OK.

SO PCA, you've had no problems with discs at all then?

If they verify then they are safely on the disc?

Yeah, I've had failed verifys, but if Nero verifys or if they copy back across, I've had NO problems.

Don't ask me. ConMark. Always DVD-R.
39 Euro / 25 discs.

Never had a problem with these.
