I've associated my movie files with Zoomplayer and although they are being opened with it they are all showing the Windows Media Player icon on the files. Any ideas why this should be and how I can alter this? Thanking any of u li'l cherubs in advance.

Depends on your version of windows?

For me (on 2000) I:

load up windows explorer, goto tools->folder options
and then click the file type TAB.
That will list ALL known file associations.
Scroll to the avi/mpeg or what ever file you want.
Highlight it and click the ADVANCED button.
That will bring up the CHANGE ICON window, and you can browse icons on your local drive or open .exe files and get access to icons etc etc.

Might be easier on XP but not been on that OS for a loooong time :D

am running XP. just been in and tried that, is the same process on XP. the files appear as associated with Zoomplayer (as they do on the properties TAB of the file) but the icon is still showing as the WMP one. Weird. Any other ideas???

Best thing to do is unintsall media player and then re install zoomplayer and it should create the icons again, perhaps media player has a hack that it takes control of avi/mpeg icons (wouldn't put it past Bill G;-))

Try unistalling and then re-installing?
And make sure you reboot machine (of course!)

I assume you tried restarting windows and de- and re-associating the extensions once again?

I give up with mine, although I tend to use the folder view that allows me to see the files as thumbnails, just to impress the neighbours like
