Adding Forced Subs to a DVDR?

Hey people, really need some help here so hope some-one here has dabbled in this.

I downloaded the TWiSCO Kill Bill DVDR from Bit Torrent and it's great.
But being a Japanese DVD theres no ENGLISH subtitles during the Japanese spoken parts (obviousley!)

Right on FH CoNS has given a basic guide, but every attempt I do doesn't work.

I can extract the vobs out and demux them, and then add my own subs to them and recreate the vobs/ifos.
But after that I'm lost.
If I add the vobs back to the disc, it doesn't work :cry:

Has any-one attempted this for the Kill Bill DVDR?
Or any disc for that fact?

My main prblem is that after I remux the files with new subs i get Vts_01.vobs/bups/ifos and when I rename them back to what they are on the disc and overwrite them.
The disc doesn't work.

However CoNS specifically syas just copy back the VOBs not the ifo etc.
But then where does the forced sub info come from, I thought that is in the ifo?

Use IfoEdit to multiplex the video/audio/subtitle streams (choose author DVD), replacing one or two of the old subtitles streams with the new subtitle stream(s). Load the Celltimes you saved from the old .ifo. You may need to apply a time delay for the new subtitles when multiplexing. This depends on the release of the movie you have. Remember to test before burning!
Replace the old main movie .vob file(s) with the new multiplexed .vob file(s), but keep ALL old .ifo files and all other files, including other .vob files. By doing so, you get to keep the menu, extras etc. of the original release.
Depending on the release you have, you may want to change the subtitle colours in the old .ifo file using IfoEdit. Test before burning!
Depending on the language of the subtitle stream(s) you replaced, you may want to use a hex editor to change the language codes of the subtitle stream(s) in the .ifo file, as this can't be done in IfoEdit.
Load any of the .ifos in IfoEdit and click "Get VTS sectors". Test in a software DVD player (i.e. PowerDVD) and burn.

Add the ofrced English Subs?

I thought that was to fix some issues withthe vob layout and people being unable to burn the ISO?

Will cehck it out, but would really love to get the subs in this release as it's pretty useless with out them :roll:

Which release did you get then Spud, does it have the subs appear automatically during Japanese spoken sections?

haven't checked yet, I lent it to my friend to copy as soon as I burned it and I'd already watched the xvid so haven't got round to it yet.

If you give me a timeframe when subs should appear I'll take a look. I applied that fix though, so whatever it did... :lol:

Well like i said I've done all the stages and added the sub file to the main vobs that comprise the movie but it just won't work when i put the vobs back in with the rest of the disc

The twisco release does have english sibs but they are for the whole film, so you have to switch them on when they talk japanese and then off when they don't :roll:

Here's the full sub file that I'm trying to add as forced subs into the vobs!

Will apply that fix 2moz and check it out, but only mention of it on FH is that is fixes problem with iso not burning

Would love to have a PROPER uncut DVD of this!!!

nope, two english subtitle tracks only... both full. Found via google:

Patch is junk, if it plays, f*ck it. Looked around, if you have to do it, the way to do it is this:

Copy the VIDEO_TS folder to my HD
Start Vobedit
Click Open and choose VTS_03_1.vob
Click demux button
Select demux all video streams
select demux all audio streams
Load DVD-Maestro
double click in asset bin (bottom right)
select my .ac3
repeat and select .m2v
right click on Movie1 under project and select Edit Movie
drag my movie and ac3 assets into the timebar
right click in subs bit (ABC) and choose import subtitles file (read further to get the file)
choose tools -> compile
give it a location
rename VTS_01_1 -> VTS_03_1
rename VTS_01_2 -> VTS_03_2
rename VTS_01_3 -> VTS_03_3
rename VTS_01_4 -> VTS_03_4
copy ONLY these 4 renamed vobs to the original VIDEO_TS folder, overwriting the originals.
load ifoedit
click open and choose video_ts.ifo
click on get vts sectors
answer yes to process all
save the altered vts's
burn, you are done.

For the subtitles file do this:

PPF patches wont fix this so im guessing this is the only way, i take no credit for this guide, im just passing it along.

But thats what's happening to me so far, so it looks like a lost cause :cry:

I can mux some rough subs into the seperated vobs but putting them back in the disc knakcers things up (like chapter selection etc etc)

But that guide you posted looks more in depth so I'll attempt again!

I suppose there is no PROPER uncut dvd of this then for us English speaking folk :roll:

Oh cheers, AFTER my 4+ GIG download you say that!!!!!!!

To be honest you may be right, I may have to resort to doing some sort of avi->DVD conversion.

But I really like the Japanese DVD except for this sub problem :cry:

If I do sort it out I'll let ya know.

Looks like no-one else has braved the world of vob muxing and sub adding around here.

xvid quality is on par with the DVD, i wouldn't bother re-encoding... it always reduces quality. I thought you had one of those divx players

But yeah I got an xbox that plays xvid!

But after downloading the DVD and people are always asking if I have the UNCUT KB DVD and stuff, Would be nice to have DVD of it!

I would have been a bit gutted purchasing this and then realising it wasn't in Eng Sub (except if you switch on/off!)

So no great loss
