lol, well it all revolves around zombies from my point of view. RE needs a change... the old stlye has peaked with RE: remake. IMO that style is over, and no matter what they do they couldn't get it significantly better than that. Only two things could be done. Get the controls spot on, and improve the story.

So as far as changing the game to proper 3d, it was inevitable... i guess Capcom realised that when they had RE: remake finished.

With proper 3d, dumb ass zombies are really just cannon fodder, it would probably be too easy to take em down... that I guess, is the motivation behind the half zombie dudes (although you can see sort of zombie half-breeds and I guess there'll be out and out zombies too, they just don't want to give away the prize crop as it were  ). You need something a bit less dumb to shoot at. Still, a dawn of the dead, hundreds of zombies 'running' (note: this is moving in a fast stumble... zombies do not run! ;) ) at you would be great, but I think loads of high polygon enemies + high quality environments is out of the question on current hardware. 10-20 is impressive enough atm.

Voice acting has always been terrible in RE , fmv sucks... glad to see fma in there. Nothing worse for breaking the mood than "you'll never play this" fmv, but with the current graphic style, camera movements and what have you make it a doddle.

Controls I'm very concerned with, the dude playing it on one of the E4 demos was terrible "I'm really bad at this" was his comment. I believe a PC would be the way forward, but doubt it is even on Capcoms radar (bloody japanese companies  ).

Still, that trailer was excellent :)

the amount of zombies on screen could easily be higher if they ported over to pc of course :D

capcom tried full 3d with the original dino crisis i seem to remember, obv thee graphics have improved since lol

from viewing that e3 trailer it looks like there are a few "real" zombies in the game aswell so thats good to know, the game in general looks good and also looks creepier in the setting and style then the previous games before it, although rather then a zombie game it does give more of a vampire style setting, but as we all know re is about zombies that should be no problem as it looks nice and stark and gloomy like a good horror game should

personally i like the voice acting in resident evil games, nice n cheesey, the best re voice acting from the games ive played is definately code veronica

either way i cant wait for this game and hope it gets ported to ps2 and even more preferred the pc, i think if it does make it to pc though it wont be until tis been a success in america, but we can all hope

doesn't work like that I wouldn't have thought. Its already been constructed, porting will still be limited by the already existing game engine, bar perhaps a slight increase. That's the problem with designing the buggers for crappy underpowered consoles

Doubt it will get ported to the ps2/xbox/pc, what with capcom signing on the dotted line at with it being released at such a late stage in the consoles lifecycle. Might happen but I wouldn't get your hopes up for any porting.

oh and I noticed a usage of the A action button :) If they can get it working anywhere near as well as in Zelda, it should be great.

mine downlaoded in about 5 mins (DAP doin its job again) though it wouldve been quicker (emule and bt sucking my bandwidth like an over eager whore lol

it may get ported to the pc, after all remember PC are never included in these exclusivity deals :) but ports may be possible as capcom only signed up to release 4 or 5 re games on GC and re4 will mark the final RE game as capcom or nintendo have chosen not to renew the deal, so i wouldnt actually be suprised to see some port overs eventually, maybe like you said the current consoles are nearing the end of theyre lifespans but think about the "ps exclusive" Metal Gear Solid, its been a couple years and now its been spruced up and released on GC under the name Twin Snakes but its essentially just the psx MGS with better graphics, so it shows that nothings exclusive if the right money and time is involved, and with something as big as resident evil id expect it to be ported, after all code veronica was DC exclusive too.... until it was spruced up with added scenes and released for ps2 as re cv X :D

The problem is that capcom have proven over and over again they have f*ck all interest in the pc. It took them years to port over RE1 and even then it was naff.

they still ported over resident evil 2 and 3, although no code veronica :(, maybe because tehyre essentially a jap company to begin with they hate pc as being a "mr microsoft western scum machine", that may not be correct with xbox but as i dont have one i dont care lol

incidently does anyone else remember which country it was that banned imports of ps2's as in that country they were classed as super computers

I can't remember but I did find this :

Quote:
Why Iraq's buying up
Sony PlayStation 2s
Intelligence experts fear games
bundled for military applications

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Joseph Farah
? 2000 WorldNetDaily.com

Many American kids may be disappointed on Christmas morning because the Sony PlayStation 2 they wanted wound up in Iraq.
Both the U.S. Customs Service and the FBI are investigating the apparent transfer of large numbers of Sony PlayStation 2s to Iraq, according to military intelligence sources.

A secret Defense Intelligence Agency report states that as many as 4,000 of the popular video game units have been purchased in the United States and shipped to Iraq in the last two to three months.

What gives? Does Saddam Hussein have an extraordinarily long Christmas shopping list? And why would U.S. military and intelligence officials be concerned about such a transfer?

Two government agencies are investigating the purchases because the PlayStations can be bundled together into a sort of crude super-computer and used for a variety of military applications, say intelligence sources.

"Most Americans don't realize that each PlayStation unit contains a 32-bit CPU -- every bit as powerful as the processor found in most desktop and laptop computers," said one military intelligence officer who declined to be identified. "Beyond that, the graphics capabilities of a PlayStation are staggering -- five times more powerful than that of a typical graphics workstation, and roughly 15 times more powerful than the graphics cards found in most PCs."

A single PlayStation can generate up to 75 million polygons per second. Polygons, as noted in the DIA report, are the basic units used to generate the surface of 3-D models -- extremely useful in military design and modeling applications.

"When I first saw this report, I was highly skeptical," said an intelligence source. "So, I did some checking with computer experts I know within the Department of Defense. From what they tell me, bundling these video game units is very feasible."

Additionally, Sony will make the process even easier with planned upgrades to the system. Beginning early next year, you can purchase a plug-in, 3.5 gig hard drive for the PlayStation, along with interface units that allow integration into the World Wide Web. If the Iraqis have trouble developing military software for the PlayStation computer system, they can probably find needed assistance on the Internet, say U.S. intelligence sources.

What could Iraq do with such a primitive super-computer constructed with Sony PlayStation 2s?

"Applications for this system are potentially frightening," said an intelligence source. "One expert I spoke with estimated that an integrated bundle of 12-15 PlayStations could provide enough computer power to control an Iraqi unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV -- a pilotless aircraft."

Iraq has been working on development of UAVs for several years as a possible platform for delivering chemical weapons, say intelligence experts.

Bundled PlayStation computers could also be used to calculate ballistic data for long-range missiles, or in the design of nuclear weapons, they add. Iraq has long had difficulty calculating the potential yield of nuclear devices -- a critical requirement in designing such weapons. Networking these computers might provide a method for correcting this deficiency, said one intelligence source.

So, why doesn't Saddam Hussein simply buy computers or workstations from friendly nations or on the black market? While this is a possibility, current United Nations sanctions prohibit the sale or transfer of virtually all types of computer hardware and technology to Iraq. However, computer-based video game systems -- like the PlayStation 2 -- are not included in the ban. Iraq's scientists and engineers have apparently found a convenient loophole in the U.N. sanctions.

Defense experts say it is also relatively easy to smuggle PlayStations into Iraq, since customs inspectors don't view toys as potential military weapons. Jordanian and Turkish inspectors rarely examine "small" shipments under 100 pounds, making it possible to send large numbers of PlayStations into Iraq without arousing suspicion.

The Sony PlayStation 2 is one of the most popular all-in-one home entertainment systems of its kind. At just over 4 pounds, it contains a 300 MHz-driven, 128-bit CPU. In addition to a plethora of new games designed to utilize PlayStation 2's hardware, it can play games from the original PlayStation's library, audio compact discs and DVD movies.

Not only has Saddam Hussein apparently found a creative way around the computer embargo, he has helped to exacerbate the Sony PlayStation 2 shortage reported in many parts of the United States. eToys.com and other e-tailers are sold out of the units and not expecting any more shipments in time for Christmas.

Which made me laugh

Say any of you played Zero ? (longer than 5mins , so piss off MAX :P )

I'm doing so this week , about half way thru and I must say I caught me dragging myself thru it.......

I've already been warned that it tells little to nothing about the fate of the bravo team THAT night.....but this is pathetic......another doctor , another mansion which for bizarre unexplained reasons was never "touched" by local folk etc...

Guess that awfull code:Veronica story fucked it all up.....and these guys had to tie it all together.....

IGN has done a resident evil feature, which goes through the evoling story of the resident evil franchise, in a 'background' to RE4:

Good read :)
