Well I switched from mlDonkey on the Mac straight to Neomule and it's a huge step, to be frank, I'm baffled :?

I queued up the latest TFTC eps, but not much is happening, but that's nothing new. Could somebody explain what the icons are next to the downloads in my queue such as the monitor with a clock in front of it and the monitor with the exclamation mark in a circle on it?

I guess I'll get used to it, but after using mlDonkey for so long, this is very strange... :wacky:

Is there a newbie guide around that is actually useful?

To be truthfull I have never tried anything other than the good old eMule. Will try Neo now though, and hopes it will live up to my expectations.

not really, just put what's logical, it doesn't make much difference. DO NOT change anything if you don't know what your doing, particularly in the reask section. Leave everything at least default or higher.

Set it too low and you'll get banned by everyone, and you will be leeching overhead like I said earlier.

Do you usually connect to the Kad network as well, and what difference does it make?

lol, the icons are "streaming green arrow" --> currently downloading, "stopwatch and pc" --> waiting, "! and pc" --> not seen a source in a while, "stop sign and pc" --> paused. Not exactly rocket science or any deep meaning there krug, just ignore :)

DrixXx, i connect to both. KAD has improved a lot since launch. The difference is source count, no speed increase (except by proxy, more sources for download means more downloads obviously). It sends sources and searches via an optimised udp network :)

lol yeah maybe I was being a bit hasty. All these colours freaked me out a bit. A bit more of a look around the place and things are already making more sense

I checked the progress this morning and I was amazed - 2 films half way and the various progress on the other files. For me, this is like somebody gave my mule steroids!

Now if I can only get that damn web interface to work...

I'm sticking with NeoMule, also!

Same great speeds as PAWCIO, but the functionality is amazing

Without doubt the best mod ever made for eMule

I never liked morphXT myself, found that pawcio and neomule were faster. As for settings, if you got them omptimised it won't make much difference with little tweaks, the only ways to increase speed are a) get a better connection b) get a better client c) if applicable, disable any firewalls/ routers and increase connections.

I love MorphXT, and don't care that much about speeds, as I don't have time to watch the stuff I download anyway. However, I'm giving NeoMule a try, and have noticed the following:

1. MorphXT offers much better control over uploads.
2. Sorting does not always work as it should.
3. I miss the active filters, allowing you to set tabs where you have for example only the paused or downloading files. Shame, these are really helpful.
4. It has loads of abundant options, which are not very useful, but complicate the interface.

Added later:
5. It seems to have messed something up with my temp files, I can't switch to any other client, they crash during hashing. And this is just not acceptable with any self-respecting mod.

Added even later: Fuck, what am I supposed to do now? My files are completely screwed, some of them changed hash and some of them had all sorts of hashing errors. Some strange characters appear from time to time in my download list instead of filenames. Sometimes the whole dl list disappears. And sometimes it just crashes and that's it. Tried both copyingnew mod version over the old one and movin temp directory to a clean eMule installation, nothing works. Am I supposed to just let go of over 80 partially downloaded files?

The final (at least I hope so) update: I think it is stable again. I had to delete several files though, they were causing crashes. I'm also not sure whether all the remaining files were hashed properly or if they appear on the dl list at all, I have the feeling there were more. This would mean some of them are just taking up the space on my hdd and nothing more. I still have to wait and see whether the new files will be completing properly. Anyway, if I ever decide to use NeoMule again, it will happen when I am decided to stay with it forever. Which is not likely to happen.

Neo is bad and we hates it, it has fucked up my precious files.
