Hey Guys, well I've been plagued with probs on xvid 1.0 etc etc.

And would like to go back to a stable(?) release pre 1.0

Can any1 give me a link to a binary download of it?

Keopi's website seems to only have 1.0 :?

And what is the best version of GKNot to use?
I've not tried the latest one, I've been using 0.27.

If any-one can shed any light on why I keep getting varying oversized rips - that would help too

Thanks!!!

I'm getting a message that says "Compression Error" myself, so it does do the second pass right. Very annoying :argue:

I keep everything i download though, so i have various keoppi builds.

it's best to uninstall ALL versions of Xvid before using Xvid 1.0 thats why you could be getting funny sized rips, i had the same until i uninstaled all Xvid and then just installed Xvid 1.0 agani...seems ok now :beerchug:

hhhhmmmmm

I think I've done that but will clear the lot :D

codec/encoder wise, if it worked for you should be OK for me

Plus I can't find an xvid less then 1.0 so I don't have a choice!!!

cheers, will do as you advise and strip any mention of XviD from registry and programs etc, do another encode and if all goes bad might need it :?

I just realised, your using the alpha .30 that takes audio overhead into account.

/me slaps paul

No wonder they are oversized, go on the doom9 gknot forums and grab the alpha from there.

well the problem with oversized rips is because it wasn't adding the audio overhead in so stuff came out mbs over size.

In the forums, Gordian Knot 0.30.alpha has been released. In this is an automated vob and dvd2avi, and then the audio overhead is now taken into account. The 0.30.alpha is an update for Xvid1.0final

Gordian Knot 0.30.0 Alpha
==========================================================
IMPORTANT: starting with version 0.28.6 GK is using new DGIndex/DGDecode.dll combination made by Neuron2.
If you planning to use different versions of those tools make sure you replace both of them
(say with DVD2AVI 1.77.3 and Nic's mpeg2dec3.dll).
Usage of those tools outside the combination is not recommended and is not supported in any way by the author and GK.

it seems there's a bugfix of the alpha too

completely uninstalled gknot, cleared the registry, uninstalled xvid.

Then I reinstalled gknot 0.28.8 i think it was (from that thread) then installed the 0.30.alpha. I then installed the latest keoppi xvid build.

I then ripped as normal (I always call everything 1.avs/1.d2v, makes sure there are no filename errors and put it in a folder called 1 on my hdd root).

Put it through gknot, worked fine. Rip was the right size and no errors :)
