To be honest, I was just taking the piss cos cable's technical support is terrible. However, I don't think it will change much... infact, it may only mean increased speeds for free. They are highly unlikely going to change much, and bulldog are a popular ADSL company. It might be an extremely good thing, or one would hope :)

wow! Their website has been redesigned since the take over. I e-mailed with a problem last week (in the evening) and they replied the next day.
It seems they've really improved customer service recently.

Quote:
? Bulldog is the UK's “Best Consumer Broadband ISP” (ISPA 2004)
? Bulldog's parent is the leading telecoms giant Cable & Wireless
? Bulldog consistently offers the best-value broadband services in the UK
? Bulldog offers an attractive range of options and value-added services including spam and virus protection, domain names, email and web space
? Bulldog provides a competitive range of leading broadband equipment, including modems, routers, wi-fi and accessories
? Bulldog was the first ISP to introduce high-speed broadband (1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, 4 Mbps & 6 Mbps) to UK homes
? Bulldog offers leading Broadband solutions for both consumers and businesses

They seem to be offering migration for a ?1 too. Just thought I might give a heads up.

So what package you on Spud?

Saw their redesigned site - very nice :)

Thinking of going for the PrimeTime package where 512kb/s during day but 1/2MB on evenings/weekends.

Alltime 2mb, I saw primetime, it would be a very good option for budget users.. hell its pointless just sticking to 512 if you can afford better. Only problem is upload, its just not high enough @ 256kb, but since bulldog are pushing forward download, lets hope they are the first to do so with upload :)

Only smelly, ugly, singing, dancing, chimney-sweeping cockneys get 4mbit :(

ps. no offence to any chimney sweeps out there
pps. no offence to any smelly, ugly, dancing or singing people either

Thats why I was going for Prime time 2MB becuase you get 400kbps upload but with Alltime you only get 256 kbps :?

At least according to their website

<a href="http://www.bulldogdsl.com/residential/products/alltime/alltime.asp" target=blank>All Time</a>
<a href="http://www.bulldogdsl.com/residential/products/primetime/primetime.asp" target=blank>Prime Time</a>

Shame really as I'd go with All Time 2MB if it had 400 kbps.
Am I reading the information table wrong :P

No you read em wrong, you get 400kb/s if your a cockney, you get 256 everywhere else. Take a look at the footnote:

Quote:
*Up to 400 kbps upstream within Bulldog's Central London exchanges.

Also they don't seem to have a link to primetime service anymore, but last time I read it, it said the same. And all the alltime services said 400kb/s with a footnote. I guess they got complaints about only having 256 up

Enter your phone number and you'll get the services you can actually get ;)

Right I get you now!

Done that and got this :
Quote:
AllTime 2000
?30 Month
?1.00 Connection Charge
Up to 2Mbps Download
Up to 256Kbps Upload
40:1 Contention

That seems like a bargain :)

Would love the 400 kbps upload though :D

Going to go for that then once i get phone line installed which is taking BT for ever!!!!!!!

Well luckily :? my house already has a BT connection from the previous residents so it just needs re-activating!

Going with the standard BT package for phone and Bulldog DSL for Broadband!

Will look into the "other" phone packages around (SKY/TALK TALK etc etc) but need the phone line ASAP so just sticknig with BT for now.

Whats your set up P.N?

That sucks P.N :(

And there is BT making out they want people to "come back to them" :?

I pay ?35 for a 1MB line so ?30 for Bulldog's 2MB seems good!

Have you tried again recently with BT, why are they charging you so much?
Do they actually have top run the wire from them to you? In that dig up the road and connect your house?

i haven't tried recently as was so put off with my initial dealings with them i vowed never to touch anything to do with them ever...........i believe it was to do with the fact that i had never been a bt customer so not only did i have to pay for the install as there is no bt line to my house, but i would have had to pay the 1st years estimated bill in advance!!!!! (why? i have no credit probs!!) i told them at the time that if they didnt want my custom then there would be others who would love to take my cash. this had no effect on them even when i stated that for a fiver i could have cable installed with tv and phone! i doubt they operate like that now but it pissed me off big time then :)
