I often wonder.

Like we all will mention Crazy Macy, Kisa Hubben, Asian Cinema Forum, ect..... Do other 'groups' know of us and are our rips availible on other networks? If you do a search on Kisa/Kazaa/Gnutella/whatever, for 'HHAH' do you get any results?

There are a few well known rippers other places (Ferrox, Grimrippers, DX, ect) but are any of the rippers here (STR perhaps?) well known?

Many forums are a bitch to post at. Emule-Project has never been very nice in their replies IMO, and the people at Asian Cinema aren't always that helpfull either. Do we have a rumour (good or bad) like that?
This is the only place I've ever found where you can post a question about absolutley anything and people will try to help you out, without ridiculing your lack of knowledge.

Are we recomended at other places, as in "Go check out HHAH, I'm sure they'll have it" like we will recomend someone go check out Asian Forums if they're looking for an asian flick that's not to be found here...?

First of all, I don't think you should use the word 'trading'. This is not exactly what we're doing here. For your own good, remove it before spud sees it and kills you for calling his site a "trading place". :)

Answering your question (didn't I see some similar thread somewhere here a few weeks ago?), I think HHAH is a very-well known site these days. There are a few great rippers here who post on other boards, ppl have links and clickable banners in their signatures etc... Plus many filenames contain the 'HHAH' tag. I also think HHAH members are easily noticed due to the community tags in their nicks.

Generally, I think most ppl know what it is, even if they are not interested in the horror genre.

Still, my post remains as the evidence of what you had said.

Ok, back to topic:
Do ppl recommend HHAH to other ppl? I know I do. I am anxious to hear some particular examples though of ppl talking about us on the net.

I have told lots of people of this site....not sure what they think in actuality though..Mainly I do a thing where I see people in my que and send them the release link for the file I am putting out...Then from there they can check out the entire site and maybe join up.
I know for a fact now that people are running my tag in searches for my releases since I got people hitting on stuff that I haven't even releases yet here or at IRC.Those are pretty much the people I send the message to like "If you like this movie there is plenty more where that came from at http://www.dead-donkey.com" and I make sure I mention the forums somewhere since the forums are pretty well an active part of this place.

Oh yeah. Halifax666 is a real life friend of mine, who I told about this site. And another of my friends that I told about the site, is only a reader, but he said it's a cool board.

I've been on many boards and written with many jerks, idiots and assholes, but you're just a bunch of cool guys. I like the moderating too.

:beerchug:

This is the best TRADING site I know  (another thing I like about this board, people can take a joke, well, not prayer, but thats another story :P )

STR is well known in CrazyMazeys since I'm seeding our releases there :)

I also suggest people to check HHAH in some of my posts, but most people there are into BitTorrent stuff and don't use Ed2k network.. That may be a reason

I'm also mentioning about HHAH in divxforever.com and divxplanet.com (both are the biggest divx communities in Turkey, and there're lots of horror fans).

I occasionally get people asking what HHAH stands for in my nick and point them at the home page, never seen any of them join though :(

Every movie I am releasing now I have either put the HHAH tag or the home page url in the avi file info that comes up when you encode.I figure that is the best way to sell this site is for people that are already watchign something they want lookign at the info and saying "Yeah..I want more of that!"

I personally think it's better if you don't advertise the site too much. Let me explain. When i first asked Crazymazey about starting an all horror bt site i figured we were going to go for something like what we had with the Voracity tracker before it went down. Have kind of a small tight nit group of guys who love horror and sharing it. When we first started up it was very small so Ferox, myself and others started including the link back to the site and then we started to get the guys from Voracity back plus a few new ones. So i had started to take the link out back in December but i guess Mazey had a different vision for the site than what i had and asked me to put it back in so i did. But then it was getting to the point when we were getting a couple hundred new members everyday and then ya start getting ones who like to stir up shit and for me it was losing that special something that draws you back to it day in and day out.

There's a reason that places like this and Kisa are so great because they are small and have a tight nit group of guys who love horror and respect each other. But if you start advertising it like mad then i think you lose that closeness and sense of community that makes it great. Could you imagine Kisa having say a thousand guys on it at any given time it just wouldn't be the same.

I think word of mouth is the best advertising. The guys who are really into this will eventually find it. When i first started filesharing i was on Kazaa and a guy on there gave me the heads up about Kisa(I wish i could remember who because i owe him one big time for that). Then from there i had heard about this place a couple years ago but i knew nothing about how the donkey network worked and i tried it out without really taking the time to learn and i just decided to stick with Kisa. And then back in January i was trying to remember the link for this place and Maccie gave it to me again so now here i am.

I just totally disagree with these places that make it a rule to include links back to there sites and now everybody wants you to register with their tracker before you can download and there's strict share ratios to keep and you must post whatever you upload to the tracker on to the forum. It's just gotten way too controlled. I know everybodies trying to crack down on leechers and i'm all for it but you'll never stop them from getting the file that way. The will get it eventually from somewhere so i figure why bother. For these guys who go to all the trouble to buy the dvd, rip it, make a torrent out of it, post it and then to only have maybe a dozen or so guys downloading it because of all the strict rules there are to make sure hit and runners don't get it is pointless. Get it uploaded to as many guys as possible. You look at Suprnova now and at least half the movie torrents are from registered trackers now. But they don't even get a quarter of the guys downloading it because of those stupid rules. Until the bittorent protocol is made so that your upload ratio drastically effects your download then it's pointless. I mean everytime i upload a torrent there's always at least a dozen or so guys with ratio's of .05 or less. I mean come on. Your download should stop completely if your ratio gets below .1 or even .2 for that matter and it should only increase as your ratio improves. Plus the client you use needs to remember your share ratio from previous torrents. I think that's the only way you can at least start putting a dent into the leecher problem with bt.

Now i just want to stress i've got absolutely nothing against anybody at Cm's or what they've done for the site. I've met some great guys there and i wish them all the best. I still keep in touch with Stetheboro and i know Decypher is still there and others here frequent it so i'm not looking for any flaming about it i'm just stating my thoughts and opinions on it and feel free to disagree. :)

Cheers,

ThEdEaDLiVe/Undead King

Nice points U.K.
Usually I try to have a 1:1 (or even better) ratio with my torrents additionally I try to publish files I gor on BT in the mldonkey net also with an 1:1 or better ratio, so I should not have a problem with registering, but do I bother? Never. I'am glad that SuprNova now flags them. Actually I'd prefer they would ban them totally. Lately I had two files from Stetheboro, which were blocked, but not flagged. The result? He can shove his stuff there, where it is always dark. I'll probably never a click a Stetheboro file again. And if I _really_ want something, which probably never happens, I can wait, it will make someday to mldonkey, and even if not, there simply is nothing I can't live without, you can be sure, that when I register I will also code a watchdoc, which will disconnect in the same second I got the last bit of such a file. Hey, I have a dynamic IP, prove that I am the same guy, when I come back a week later. And I am a strange stubborn guy.
:D :D

very nice points there undeadking :) I agree most definitely :) (and a bit of :( )

I think the major downside to a smaller community, is that emule works by the more people downloading the better. I've found the problem is, I get lots of A4AF from everyone with a hhah nick (and therefore a site user) under lots of horror films, and this can be extremely counter productive and limits the spread, and therefore the life of the release. This is also why I am against unfair communities (ie. push one type of client/whatever over another emule client), and especially trading, I see no advantage in either.

I don't like forced registering, or hiding anything from unregistered users because, well, the more people downloading the better... and then you only get people registering who want to join in the fun

As for the HHAH, I also add them to filenames, so people know where to go to get more/find more info/seek help. I like how people are using HHAH in their screennames still, even after community push died (and understandably so)... it shows that it really was to indentify as much as to help spread files.

I'd hope the frontpage helps sort out the dabblers and boost filesources, and the forum is for releasers, help, and what not. Then again the frontpage isn't as updated as I'd have hoped :(

:)
