Do 64 bit motherboards and CPUs use the same DDR memory as current Athlon XP's

I'm looking to go 64bit, but if I can save a few ???'s by using my current memory then that would be good news indeed :)

I want a faster processor, and a 3.2mhz p4 and a 64bit 3200+ cost around the same but the 64 bit processor offers better performance (marginally)

Basically, this is the same thing as the DVD recorder question, I want a quick and easy way to convert avi to dvd, DVD recorder is easy, but realtime, TMPGenc is more complicated, but if I upgrade I can encode faster than realtime, I've got ~?250 to spend on upgrades or the DVD recorder and I'm trying to work out the best way to spend the money :)

Eww, just bought a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1630 laptop with an AMD 64 3400+ processor. I think I'll avoid SP2 until it get's sorted. Nice lappy btw :D
