i think the best thing to do is to have your os, the emule temp files directory and the completed files directory on seperate drives/partitions just 2 avoid heavy fragmentation on the os drive which kinda slows things to a snails pace else

sound advice. The only reason i have the OS on a partition and not a seperate drive is because I don't have a 10GB drive, and for the price they ain't worth investing in  I think the idea of isolating the os and not dumping your crap in the same place is a way to keep your pc easy to maintain.

Hope its ok to continue in this old topic.

I am on my way to rebuilt my pc and this time listen to your advise. I have only one pc to start with. Today I use only one big partition on one drive (120gb), not so good I realized. Now Ive got another drive 20gb.

How about the little drive for just windows (and programs?).
And Im thinking of partition the big drive into:
D: for eMule Temp and incoming (how big?)
E: My own textdocument and stuff like that, (7gb)
F: Movies to be watched or son to be burnt (big as possible)
Or should the programs be in this drive too (g:)? (how big)

On my emule PC, I have exactly that, 1 small drive with windows and emule and a 120Gb drive for everything else.

I wouldn't partition though, just hacve a folder for everything :
I have a folder called finished (which is a to be burnt folder) with :
games
movies
xbox
music
etc

Sub dirs, that way I don't have to worry about running out of incoming / temp space for emule, if I do, I just burn something out of the finished area.
