maybe it works too well, perhaps pawcio is programmed to let other crap through too.... shame that popular ones overpower the stuff that only i'm sharing though :(

Weird, PS with Pawcio works fine for me, no "other crap" coming through, just my releases.

'nuff said  :wacky:

It most certainly did let ginger snaps through and some others, and it was for quite a while, before, I thought that the mod wasn't worth it, so i doubt it was just the "send full chunks feature" playing out.

Well I'm running Morph again, seems to do the spot. Finally figured out how to compile emule properally too, now thats one arse backward procedure, but the forums finally made some sense and I was able to track down the linker problems (no it wasn't multithreading, I aint that slow :), it required a static_Release for some reason, which is mentioned no1 beyond a couple of help threads)

According to this thread I installed Morph, but my dl speed was fixed to 6kb. I thought it was from credits, so I keep it running for the rest of the day. But I realized that, it has a built in 1:3 ul-dl ratio. That sucks cause I can ul 2-3 kbs max and have a max 14kb dl. So I uninstalled it and now trying Pawcio. Maybe I can compile Morph with a better ratio. :matrix:

thats incredibly gay there GaMeR. The ratio is there to prevent leeching, its the basis of the mod. It would be better to simply use official emule, it has the most lax ratio. Since your line is complete and utter shit, you really don't need a mod.

If you limit your upload to 2-3kb/s then every single client restricts your upload, from official edonkey2000 to mldonkey to emule.
All mods have a limit on your download, your max download will be no more than ~20kb/s with all of them.
ed2k works simply, if you don't upload, you won't download.

What kind of gay ass line are you on? If you want 'unlimited' downloads, you should limit your upload to 10kb/s, if you don't have that capacity, then you simply won't be able to use any ed2k client efficiently.

The best thing you can do is upgrade to broadband, ed2k is pretty much unuseable on anything slower.

Am I a horrible jackass to be using Shareaza?
http://www.shareaza.com if you didn't know.

I figured it was probably the best of 'em since it connects to a whole bunch of networks. Emule, G1 Hubs, G2 Hubs, Limewire, Bearshare, etc.

You think if I change over to something like Neo that I will be able to keep my downloads that are still in progress?

lol, you figured totally wrong. Instead of getting one efficient client for each, network you now have several very, very poorly programmed and inefficient implementations all gathered under one big bug fest.

You should change to a stable client immediately.

And no, there's no easy way to preserve your downloads. The reason for this is because shareaza uses some totally half assed filesystem. Try googling for a part file converter, but I think most people know better than to use it in the first place

I would recommended imediate installation of emule, then to finish off your shareaza usage, and use emule as the current client ;)

Would you recommend I get a Mod?
I'm not gonna bother trying to convert the files. I am just gonna write down what I'm downloading and re-download stuff.
I'm in no rush.

to be honest, even switching to old edonkey2000 would be a significant improvement

I would say, have a go with official or one of the lightweight mods, perhaps Pawcio. If you have solid upload and are willing to treat the network fairly, morphXT is a very good choice.

But anything would be a notable improvement over shareaza I'd suspect.

What do you mean when you say "Treat the Network Fairly"?
I have decent uploading. I'm on a Cable modem, so whatever kind of uploading that entails.
I tend to prefer to not upload more than 50K at a time, though, cuz it starts making my Internet Lag.
And I download a LOT at once. I download like 60 things at the same time.
And I downloaded Emule 0.44b.

Teach. Impart. Thou art wise, and thine art not.

Sweet zombie jesus, you can upload at 50kb/s? That's freakin awesome, I only have 256 KBit upload, ~30kb/s will kill my line.

Well morphxt is designed to give a lot back to the network, it has features like paybackfirst and has a solid inbuilt ratio of 1:3. If you can upload at a solid rate, then its better to use morphxt (it gives me better results)

What is your line speed? ie. max up / down.

I would use morph xt, it may suit your setup better.

Hey, I'm paying 35$ for this connection every month, so it's not gay. :) (maybe it's gay but- a expensive one  )
I gave my papers to our telecom company, and I hope they will upgrade my connection in a day or two. (will cost me extra 20 bucks a month) Maybe then I can try this emule mod crazyness. By the way, pawcio seems runnin nice with the old netlimiter trick but I think I will go on with my old donkey.

My line speed, eh?
Hmmm. Well, lemme see.
Since I didn't know, I did a Speed Tester thingamajig online. It says my line max DL is 2.5 Megabits per second.
And for uploading it says it is indeterminable, which I can understand due to the nature of Cable Modem networks. I mean, it depends on time of day and whose on since everyone shares bandwidth. So I don't know what the max UL speed would be.

I never realistically get 2.5 MB a second. If I'm pulling in 600K a second, that's highly rare and amazing.

I'm using MorphXT and I'm upping about 37K for every 100 I DL.
So I would suppose that's about 1:3, give or take.

This is SO much better than Shareaza.

No lie, brother.
You know, I knew something was wrong when I had to Pause my downloads in Shareaza, and then Resume them to even keep them ACTIVE, let alone downloading. It's like Shareaza connects to 6 networks, and then totally fails to keep itself aware of what is happening on those networks. It doesnt check for new sources unless you tell it to, it's a resource hog which, if left running, will make you need to restart to free up your system.

I could continue with my grudges against Shareaza (Yes, I have lots more). I can't believe I used that crap.

God Forgive me, for I knew not what I did.
