I feel sorry for people who can't be scared by movies. That's the best thing about horror movies. The gore is just gravy..

I know exactly what you mean.
I know so many people that say "oh XYZ was crap it wasn't even scary" and they slag you off for enjoying it and being scared!!!

Their loss if you ask me, getting scared is the most enjoyable part of watching some horrors!

Open Water had me extremely on the edge of my seat nervous - but not scared. I thought it was good that such a movie could do that. I am going diving with Grey Nurse sharks on my holiday starting on the 2nd of Nov :-o :-o :-o

Rather you than me, I watched Open water last night and I'm never going near the sea again !!

It wasn't scary, but it was an edgy and ultimately depressing film. Thoroughly recommend it :)

I suppose that if you're going to get bitten by a shark it's probably best that it's a "nurse" shark - at least it can dress the wound afterwards! :?

Of course it depends on what you mean by scared, if you just mean did it make you jump then yeah there's a few of them around, I took it as meaning plays on your mind for a while afterwards :-o

As a Kid the only films that ever worried me afterwards were Night/Dawn/Day of the dead. Nowadays it is a rare occurence for me to feel disturbed afterwards, altho I gotta say I smoked too much weed last nite and turned all paranoid, it was actually the first time I have been scared for many years, no idea why tho. I enjoyed the whole experience tho, except when the sound of the wind sounded like rave music, that was a bit weird TBH.

I dont count films that make me jump as scary, my mum can make me jump and she aint scary, well just a little if you piss her off.

Oh yeah, Scrapbook, the full uncut version of course. More disturbing than scary (in the manner of how I found films scary as a kid) but I'd only recommend it to hardcore horror fiends, guess that's everyone here then

Ghostwatch!

when i watch it now it seems tame, but i saw in on telly when i was 12 and it scared the shit out of me! as i remember i only watched 1/2 of it, then turned it off.

i watched the amityville horror for the first time recently, i think that was the last film that scared me? alot of ppl think its shit, but i really liked it. shame about the sequels!

I always go into movies with an open mind, but it's a rare occasion when a movie can successfully draw me in, convince me, and alter my mood. It's a shame most new supposed horror movies are just comedies or action.

My vote goes to the asian horror of the past few years. Ju-On was nice.

I wish movies still scared me like they did when I was younger. :(

"Yentl" was the last movie to scare me!
Forced beyond my will to see it,
in total horror ever since! :matrix: Barbra Streisand=scary woman, she should have played Jason Voorhees mom!

As for Horror movies I can only remember being scared when i was a kid at them. I think I become so immune by horror films that they really don't do much in the scare department for me .
Now I just look forward in the appreciation of a well done horror but I don't get to the point of ..."who's there behind me' wwooooo I'M A scared!!!, just maybe that small creepy feeling but not scared.

I have high hopes that the movie "Saw" does live up to what looks very creepy.

I have to watch the movie by my self if Im going to be scared. Its a big different when someone watching with me.

I agree that the asian movies are the one that scares the most nowaday. But NOT the ring, I couldnt feel anything about it. A good movie but no more. Ju-on got into my nerves.

You know, after reading the above thread and really thinking on what actually would scare me it would have been Jaws.....I have seen damned sharks up close and I'll be damned if I am gonna be ate by something bigger than me.But I was like 5 or 6 at the time so guess that is pretty far back,,,nothing like the exorcist or Jason or any of that shit really scared me...if anything it wanted me to check out more. But the shark thing...i don't know..maybe the reality of it or something....I watch it now and laugh and recite every last line, but as a kidn if anything possible did scare me was Jaws...that and Shelly Winters
