Kademlia question

Just how much overhead does Kademlia use?

I've got it on, but the overhead of my upload is over half that of the max setting!

I'm uploading @ 16Kbps, but the total upload including overhead is >23Kbps (!)

How much of that is attributable to KAD and what il effect will I get if I turn it off?

No Kademlia is a serverless network for emule. (like overnet for edonkey)
