yes it is you numpty, it has been for over a year as a boot of PSO and loading an ISO from my pc would show. It isn't chipped, but that's not the same thing.

okay mr *numpty* listen up..... first of all everyone know the gamecube can be chiped, and this so called loader is crap and totally useless. everyone is waiting for a proper solution, the gamecube aint exactly a new consol anymore. but they are going on and on and on with this loader that aint going to bring us anything in the end... what they should be working on is a chip and a solution for usage of normal dvd disc's....

I know what would be more convienant, that's not the same of course, but the fact remains, the Gamecubes piracy prevention system has been cracked for over a year.

That loader I posted is allegedly capable of 10x faster data transfers (more like 5x).

Yeah the new loader is faster and it plays more games that wouldn't load before. Go and look on the GC-Compat site if you want to know what games were improved etc.

And as for a chip, if you believe what you read on http://www.xtremeconsole.com then Origa bros are gonna have their chip working very soon, but that smells like bullshit to me.

Anyway, I was happy even with the old loaders, so this new one is great news for me, plus, it's only the preview edition...

Don't get too happy about that chip, read this from MaxConsole/Dextrose:
Quote:
Here's a part of the "BS" you've requested:

tmbinc on "dextrose" (the mother *g*):

I hereby announce that i'll release an improved version of my already-existing IPL emulation stuff this year.

I have nothing to do with the Viper-GC stuff (heck, i didn't even knew until today that such a thing exists).

My IPL replacement will have the following features:

- Boot from network (BBA) in seconds
- Boot from original DVD disc (regionfree, but of course a NTSC cube still can't properly display PAL and vice versa)
- Boot from SD card
- Boot from Memory card
- Boot to original IPL (trivial, really)
- (simple) Serial debug interface! (what i always missed)

It will have 4MB Flash, so you can flash multiple loaders if you like and switch between them.

It can be reflashed either using a parallel adapter or a serial cable (i haven't decided yet, currently both works but serial is slow, but a standard interface), AND it can be flashed directly from the cube! (the other option is simply a recovery mode, which you won't need unless you really mess around).

And it will have some special features which i don't want to announce now. They will be a special surprise

Ok, this all wouldn't be worth a message as it might sound fucking commercial, BUT the best thing comes last:

it's completely FREE! All software will be open sourced, all schematics will be available, all VHDL sources too, and the tools to compile/synthesize will be availabe as well (at least in an evaluation version)!

I hope to get the material costs to about $10, depending on how much i have to pay for the PCBs and CPLDs.
The two prototypes i built were at about $20, but prototype PCBs are always expensive and i bought the CPLDs at reichelt, which are very expensive as well.

I want this project to become a community project, where everybody might help.

I want to help anybody who isn't able to produce the PCBs (or solder them) by himself by producing some board or even pre-mod some GCs, without taking (much) money for this.

We might establish something like they did on the xbox: volunteers mod your gamecubes without taking (much) money.

In this context I want to announce that i'll be holding a lecture at the 21c3 in berlin, germany at the end of this year. I will talk about "hacking the gamecube" in general, and another well known person will talk about gc-linux. If you have time and/or money, please come and laugh about my english pronounciation.

Honestly: I'm not really the guy of big announcements, as i don't like to announce something before it's really working and final, but hey, it's about to be final.

Oh, and i hereby claim to have had the "first modchip for the gamecube" (uh no, that's not true. another guy i know of has made such a thing before, yes before i even started to look at the gamecube. however, i'm pretty sure he didn't has anything todo with the viper stuff, but he was first), however i would never dare to call my work a "modchip", as a modchip is there to play pirated games.
So this isn't a modchip, but the viper gc isn't either.

Please do not ask me questions about this before 21c3. Meet me there and ask me there, but please don't email me until.

my pc is 192.168.1.18 and I think I set the gamecube to 192.168.1.32 or something, been ages since i last booted it up

Older versions worked with Phoenix, the only way I could get the new version to work (in the end) was with phoenix also, if I use it "standalone" it will not work.

[edit] It's been so long since I 've used the Loaders, I forgot how they work, fixed the standalone issue too[/edit]

BUT, it's a HUGE improvement, games are actually playable now :) there is still some stuttering on the games I tried, but it's hardly noticable (also some are better than others).

Good job :beerchug: Now if I can work out why the re-pack doesn't work I'll be laughing.

[edit]I think I've got the repack working too, but it's a LOT more picky over what it will and won't load.[/edit]

BTW anyone got any good ED2K links for GC isos?

lol i did suggest a sticky and it was like... "nintendo? Get a life!" so i never started one.

I got some good isos though, just that speed issue. I've downloaded several from emule, mostly from suprnova though.

Speaking of which, news is the new zelda will come close to meeting its release deadline....

LOL... yeah right, sorry read a news article about it being in advanced playable form at next years E3

cool, but where to get the iso... and better yet, where's zelda? Then again, I'm not playing a demo of that, I know its going to be good... I want to be surprised again (as always) how much better than good it is going to be on release.

Might give RE4 a go if i can find it.
