you could anyway, there's been a patch for a while so you could load up multiplayer by a 'hacked' interface. Remember CS is also just a mod, when you run it its running hl2.exe so it all sits ontop one game.

Noticed the deathmatch appear this morning. I suppose thats one good thing about steam, if you tell it to, it downloads every patch automatically :)

I'm waiting out for Day of Defeat myself, thats due for release soon :) There's only a few, very, very, very early shots, and from looks like a very crap pc, but it should give a taster. Notice the level names, they were probably running off CS:S

On another note, might as well make this the official hl and hl2 mod thread, so I'll start off by posting one i found:

Very fun, its like Max Payne. You bind a button to be bullet time and then when you press it everythings in slow motion. They also tweaked the phsyics so everything goes flying. Something to extend play ability until some TCs turn up :)

zombie panic

The basic idea of the mod is straight out of many different horror films:
Zombies are coming for the last remaining humans, and the humans must fight
them off as best they can. The way it works is this:

Everyone joins a server, say 10 people. All of the players but one join the
Survivors team, which is the humans. The remaining player joins the Zombie team.
His goal is to kill all of the humans. The humans' goal, of course, is to stay
alive as long as possible. The catch is that everytime a zombie is killed, he
simply respawns and continues to play. If a human is killed, he respawns as a
Zombie on the Zombie team. Soon, more and more humans have joined the ranks of
the zombies, until there is only one human left, facing all of the zombies alone.
When the last human dies, the round is over.

That is the gameplay in a nutshell. Of course, there is a little more to it than that.
Humans have several advantages over the zombies

Out now -BrainBread version 1.0
http://www.ironoak.de/BB

30th of January is a day to remember: the day of change. It was in the early morning
when the chaos started: roaming hordes of bloodthirsty men ran through the city,
killing everybody at sight. There were rumours about an army experiment and problems
with the nuclear reactor. By 12 a.m., half of the city's population was part of the
cannibal horde, about a thousand were killed in car accidents and by gunshots from
personal firearms. U.S. Army forces moved into the city to rescue as many as possible.
They soon had to realize that the only way to stop the cannibal hordes was to shoot
them. Tanks entered the city and killed hundreds. At the same time Black Hawk squads
searched for survivors. Survivors like you...

Brainbread - The new coop multiplayer experience

An arsenal of over 20 weapons makes sure you stand a chance of surviving against the zombie hordes - even if it's but a small one.

Help your friends to survive - The Zombies work as a team.. you better do the same!

The new GOREgeous-system (tm) allows you to shoot zombies into pieces and implements realistic blood particles - never seen in any hl mod before!

Are you afraid of being killed by a zombie? One thing is worse: becoming one of them! Avoid getting bitten by those bastards.

The Army is your only ally. AI based tanks, helicopters and soldiers will bring great AI against AI fights onto the streets!

6 different character models, each one as human and zombie version!

A huge city to explore and survive.

Hundreds of zombies, your friends, a bunch of weapons... Are you ready for Brainbread?
