Is it me, or is it better, and a lot easier, to just buy a Divx-Compatible standalone then to worry about this SVCD crap?


See, I was considering changing a couple of my movies to SVCD for my Mom for Xmas, since she doesn't have a DIVX-Compatible standalone.

A). It takes forever to do this, and you usually have to split the file.
B). The quality sucks.
C). It's easier to just buy the movie.

I don't know. I never got into SVCD. Is there a quick, easy program to do it with that I'm missing?

I tried to convert 1 movie using TMPGenc, but the resulting video didn't have sound, even though the sound feed was the same source file as the video, so why it didn't work I have no idea.

Anyway, I think that from now on I'm just going to BUY people their Christmas Present movies.

Period. No, all 3 apply no matter what program you use. When you convert from MPEG4 to MPEG2, you are devoling in terms of quality. You have to re-encode so it takes ages, and the simplest way is probably TMPenc.

Get her a cheap divx player and then something to play on it
