I ripped a couple of discs before, but it takes AGES!! About an hour per disc! Honestly it's really slow, I found it easier just to download them.

it did nothing for me, I left it for ~30mins, all it ever said was "starting streaming"

well it was a while ago when I did it, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing shit filling up the screen, or at least some indication that let you know the disc was being ripped and when it had stoped

GameCube Action Replay SD Loader V1.00 By Costis

Quote from Costis at http://www.gcdev.com

(Quote)
On New Year's Day, January 1st, 2005, I bring to you the first release of my latest GameCube project!

NO more tolerating PSO for homebrew development!
NO need to modify your GameCube for fast GC code testing cycles!

I bring to you SDLOAD! SDLOAD is an SD (Secure Digital) card Action Replay bootloader. With just an Action Replay (ANY revision works fine) and an SD card adapter for your GameCube, you can be booting code from the SD card or even your PC network within seconds! I estimate it takes around 10 to 15 seconds from the time you turn on your GC to the time you can have homebrew code running on it.

Once you have installed the loader, all you do is turn on your GameCube, press A to Start Game, open and close the DVD disk cover, and you are instantly greeted with my SDLOAD DOL selection menu! I have even added a network boot feature so you can use SDLOAD in conjunction with PSOload to instantly boot code from your PC to the GC through the network. As well as this, I have included a nice reload feature so that any GC program can exit back to the SDLOAD menu screen by branching to location in RAM.

Download SDLOAD Release V1.00 HERE!!!!
I hope this will revolutionize GameCube development. This method works on all GameCube consoles, so you can take your SD cards along to friends' houses as well and show your homebrew programs to them. Once you have the files on the SD card, no PC is needed.

Also, there is NO need for a method to run code on the GC in order to install this loader! ALL you need is an Action Replay, SD card adapter for the GameCube, PC SD card reader, and an SD card.

The only down-side is that many people do not own SD card adapters for the GameCube yet, but they can be bought for only $30 at Lik-Sang. I include instructions in the readme file for making your own adapter if you want to do so, or feel free to e-mail me at costis@NOSPAMgbaemu.com (remove the NOSPAM before e-mailing) if you would like me to make and sell you an adapter for cheap. Read the readme.txt and install.txt files for crystal clear details about this project and for information on how to install and use it.

PLEASE try this loader out and help make this project a success!!! Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here is an overview of the features and more information about this revolutionary new Gamecube scene development :-

The Action Replay SD Loader (or SDLOAD for short) is an tool which allows you to boot code on an unmodified GameCube within 10 to 15 seconds from the time you turn it on! It makes use of an Action Replay
code which tricks the GameCube into running my bootloader code and loading my SD card selection menu. The selection menu supports all these features:

- Loading any DOL file from the SD card in any directory and subdirectory.
- Loading any DOL or binary file with PSOload from your computer through
the network.
- Reloading or exiting back to the SD selection menu from your programs
by branching to the small reloader code (just like in PSOload V2.00).
- NO need for a modified GameCube, works on ALL unmodified GameCubes.
- Works on EVERY Action Replay revision -- One code to rule them all!
- Only 29 codes to insert once. They are saved on the Action Replay
memory card after you have written them in the first time and you
just have to select Start Game every subsequent time to boot into
the SD loader menu.
- Can be installed WITHOUT a way to run code on the GameCube prior to
this! All you need is an Action Replay, an SD card adapter for the
GameCube, and an SD card.
- Boots to the SDLOADER selection menu on the FIRST Action Replay boot.

It is a completely different method of uploading code on unmodified GC's. It takes approximately
10 to 15 seconds from the time you have turned on your GC to the time you are
able to boot any DOL file of your choice. How does this work you say? My SD
bootloader makes use of the Action Replay in order to exploit the GameCube
and gain full control over it, allowing the user to select any homebrew file
to load and run. The Action Replay is a product made by Datel, which normally
allows users to enhance their gaming experiences by entering cheat codes for
GameCube games.

Yeah that's pretty cool, was reading about it earlier, but I've spent enough money on this shit already, I just ordered my Viper yesterday.

why whats not convincing, the viper review looked pretty straight forward, and on top of that its backed up by the fact that the next two articles go on about laser calibration to get compatibility with more DVDr brands.

Takes a lot more work to chip than the xbox and ps2 than for sure, but its true, if thats what you meant. There's plenty of sites that have tried it out anyway.

No, it wasn't that I don't believe it, I'm just not convinced it's going to offer any real benefit over streaming in the long run

They boot up just like retail, and play without stuttering the crap all over the place, its already beating bba streaming by a country mile  When they fix the audio and do multi dvdrs, then that's pretty much all that's needed.

except not all the games stream anyway ;) Those boot with the chip.

The bba adapter is still more buggy than the modchip which isn't even fully developed :o
