Okay, i'm pretty new to all the divx/xvid stuff and have never played subs before. I'd like to play subs sometimes tho, so i installed Vobsub and also Directvobsub, i've read various threads and guides all over the internet but i can't get this to work. I tried BSPlayer, Divx player, windows media player and Winamp.
All the guides/threads say the sub has to open automatically when you open the file when it's in the same folder with the subs, named exactly the same but it doesn't. Also, in BSPlayer, there is an 'Open subs' option wich I also tried, but it doesn't work.
I used the following files for testing: 'NOTLD.(1990).[Bassline].avi' and 'NOTLD.(1990).[Bassline].idx' and 'NOTLD.(1990).[Bassline].sub' (thanks Bassline :beerchug: )
I am sorry for this, to you guys, stupid question but i tried everything else i could...

It's only a .dll file, isn't it? I placed that file in my system32 folder and installed it by typing 'regsvr32 VSFilter.dll' in a command line and i got a message saying the file was succesfully installed.

sorry, didn't see that D. Does the application load up in your system tray?
If not, then either A) the subs aren't being loaded automatically and the filter isn't register properally B) The application was not installed.
If it does, then you need to click the tray icon, then go to (i think) Subtitles>Select your Language, and also click display subs.

Some Random Dude: I have that program installed already, 100% positive about that.

spudthedestroyer: Nothing appears in my tray icon, Vobsub is installed, Directvobsub is registered (I don't need to reboot after that, do i?).

I'm not sure if you have it installed if you only dumped a .dll file somewhere, because then it isn't installed. Have you checked the program, anyway I'm confused. Good luck...

I don't suppose Bassline's subtitles could be bad. What format are the subs for Versus in? If it's another format, then you still can't play VobSubs. Just download the file (executable installer, not just some dll) and install it.

Well, i also tried The resurrection of Michael Myers 2 now and it also works, both Versus and The resurrection... have the .idx/.sub format. The ones from NOTLD just don't seem to work. I'll try downloading them again, but i don't have much faith in it.

i just tried them on my machine and all aws working fine...infact i tried all 19 languages and all where playing OK,so i don't know whats up with your file.....possibly a corrupt download somewhere?....did you click my subtitle link in my original thread or did you find another source for the subs?...maybe someone repacked em and fudged em up?....who knows?.....

i could reshare my subpack for you and see if that works? :)

Bassline: I clicked the sub package again from your thread but it still doesn't work, all the rest of the subs i've got (3 different, all in idx/sub format) work now.

Well i know for a fact the subs work as i tried all 19 languages, i unrared them from the subpack that i shared so i would look further into your settings or possibly do a fresh install of direct vobsub etc and see if that sorts it out...if the subs aren't bad (which i have proven) then the fault must lie within your PC set up somewhere :?

out of interest how large are the files (idx/sub) when unpacked?
