Watched this last night and it's literally astounding.

Astounding that a modern big budget horror movie could be WORSE than House of the Dead!
Astounding that such little respect was show to the original, they couldn't even be bothered to check that the church was in africa from the orignal (It was in iraq IIRC)
Astounding that Renny Harlin (Action film director) was allowed near the franchise, but even more astounding that ANYONE thought he was a sensible choice, he directs the last 30 minutes of the movie like a rollercoaster.
Astounding that I actually managed to sit through 2 hours of the most flaccid and slackly plotted POS I've seen for a long time.

Did anyone like this garbage??

Forgot to add, the worst CGI I think I've ever seen, are there no flies left working in hollywood?

Astounding that it only took a few hours to download via emule.
Astounding that people eat crap like this up with a spoon.
Astounding that they haven't released the hopefully better verison yet.

Astounding that I thought it was OK, in a mediocre sorta way.

To me it was OK to watch once, but zero intent to watch it again.

I was under the impression he directed the whole thing (they started again from scratch, and no footage was recycled is what I have read several times now). The movie was reshot from scratch wasn't it?

as such there are two versions, one of which is being sat on by the studio. I can't imagine how it would be worse.

btw, just saw this awesome quote @ imdb:

Yes it was all directed by Renny Harlin, I meant the last 30 minutes were like a rollercoaster and NOT in a good way, the only restraint he showed was in not using bullt time in the Pazuzu vs merrin fight

Ah rite, well the rest of it was pretty much as crappy as the last half hour. Bullet Time would have been hilarious though, since he would have used it thinking the film was ace and 'cool'
