Since kinkyqueen left everyone with incomplete posts, I've bought and ripped this one myself. This is my first attempt to rip an NTSC DVD R1. Mind you, I'm behind a NAT, so it may be hard see me. BTW don't worry, I'll keep this on release. I will also consider usenet upload.

To give some constructive(?) criticism, you should had IVTC'd this. 29.970 is not a valid framerate for this material and should be 23.976 and you're wasting encoding bandwidth. There's a guide over at http://www.doom9.org/

Having said that I'll grab it anyway as the video bitrate is high enough to make up for it. Thanks weezee :beerchug:

I have activated IVTC on GordianKnot, but it didn't change FPS.
DVD at 30fps --> XviD at 30fps
I was surprised about this, but since it was the first time I ripped an NTSC movie, I wasn't sure on what FPS I should obtain.

Mmm, maybe it's a GKnot bug. I've just tried to simulate a re-encode of this movie, double-checking that IVTC was selected, and it was, but the .avs file has IVTC lines commented:

# IVTC
#Telecide(order=1,guide=1).Decimate()
# or use
#IVTC(44,11,95)
#GreedyHMA(1,0,4,0,0,0,0,0)

Do you think that uncommenting those lines would set the movie to 24fps?
And if yes, which lines? 3 and 4, or 1?
I don't understand the meaning of those numbers...

Yeah NTSC is a pain in the ass! Just select forced film when you make your .d2v project file and then preview and see if it comes out and 23.976(It should).

I've had some debates lately about when a flick should be 24fps and when it should be 29fps. Vid could you post that Doom 9 link you gave me. It seems to contradict what all the other guides say. I always make mine 24fps but would like to read that one guide again.

Thanks, now I've learned something new! You are right, I have set Forced FILM inside DGIndex, and now it is generating a .d2v at 24fps!

Now IVTC on GordianKnot is unselectable, as if it realized the movie already has correct framerate.
I'll re-rip this movie, but I will post it ONLY if you people are unsatisfied with the 30fps version, which IMO is very good.

Allright, I've just finished a 24fps rip. The quality is about the same, the only difference is the motion effect, which is cleaner than the 30fps version. To avoid ppl from starting a useless download, I will replace the link AND modify the TOPIC.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm not sure about these. They are subtitles for deaf. I think I've done a mess with those, since they appear on the top-left of the screen.... There are no normal english subtitles, only these.

Propagating now on usenet. Those of you with an access to alt.binaries are invited to get TAP from there and become full sources.
Check *horror and *movie-monsters.
Thank you. 8)
