Rogue Squadren 3 booted no probs, just going to test the one I 'fixed', if that boots then I'll have a spare copy of that.

Gonna then try LoZ: 4 swords, then RE: Veronica

edit: spare copy boots, zelda boots, RE boots, 100% success :beerchug:

100% success with datawrites, @ original 160 Ohm setting :)

lol, maybe I should put all the screws back in?

Ah, I see what you mean about disc errors, I just burnt PoP2 and it displayed "The Disc can not be read".

Damn, I think I might invest in a multimeter, any one know where I can get one cheap online?

When I tried to burn the iso, it said there was a problem with the blocksize, so I aborted and used the GCNwipe tool to fix it... maybe its supposed to have a strange blocksize?

Looks like I'm about a day behind you spud, I've got PAL working fine, but having no luck at all with NTSC, with GCOS 1.1 it just hangs with the text on screen and the disk spinning constantly :?

Well the old dol just went to a fuzzy white screen, the 1.1 works dandy, although looks like I'm going to have to tweak after all.

The weird thing is though that the media boots PAL releases fine, it's only NTSC that it seems to struggle to read :?

The DREs I'm talking about happen in game randomly and you have to restart the game.

Okay, I just got a DRE and it happens at the same place.

I completed and burnt off RE4, but when I get to the end of the passage, and climb the ladder, it loads and then says it can't read the disc :(

I guess I'm going to have to tweak my laser? I have it set at the default setting atm.

I'm having no luck at all, I've got it to boot ONCE, with one game only.

I'm going to have a more serious play tomorrow / monday and see if I can sort the problem.

Rogue Squadren not work then? :(

Okay, can someone help me with a little problem, everything boots fine.

The problem I'm having is that I'm playing the awsome RE4, and I've got under the curch, I go along the passage, then get to the end and climb the ladder.

The problem is here is that the gamecube then tries to read from the disk, and then it says there was a problem reading the disk... I thought it might be the laser but I don't think it is, all the other loading bits before worked fine, but this one is a no-go... could it be a write error?

how did you manage it? tweaking the laser.

I tried mine at increments of 10 from 213 to 141, repsonds just like it does at 160, boots everything, doesn't load past this room in RE4... I really want to play RE4.

btw..WTF are they playing at with the PAL release dates AGAIN? nintendo want to fuck themselves over, I'm sure of it!

I'd already tweaked the laser (it's currently @ 160)
PSO does NOT work as a boot disk for me. MArio Kart DD seems to work perfectly :beerchug:

I've got a DRE with mario tennis though, it's the only one I've had so far though

PSO doesn't boot, how did you boot then? or do you mean that the PSO loader doesn't work?

I use PSUL + GCS1.1, its annoying that it can load from disk fine but not this certain load point :(

Everything else works fine though, oh except Prince of Persia two which boots then does a DRE just at the select option menu at the begining.

RE4 really is the best game I've played in ages, I love Action Adventure games, and this is a great game in that genre (no zelda mind).

Try doing this for the games that DRE

Load PSO and load GCOS as usual.

When GCOS has loaded remove PSO disk and reaplce it with either Mario Kart DD or Starfox Adventure ORIGINAL (assuming you have one of them ;) )
THEN select Boot game Backup
and swap like normal

works Infinately better for me, and others too.

BTW try using FSTFIX on the images as well, it seems to make backups FAR more reliable :)

Of course I have Mario Kart, I do have geektisic integrity
I never heard about that switch trick, I will try.

And the fstfix, even if they are full 1.35GB, just use the fix anyway? I noticed rogue squadren 3 booted either way, you've got the fstfix one btw.

Which unfortunately doesn't work :(

My drive seems to dislike the datawrites, the DRE I get on Mario tennis is du t the disk, reburnt on the bulpaq and it's fine :)

Fstfix will fix marginal and DREing games by re-ordering the data, works for me anyway.

Spud, did you say you were using GCoS 1.1??

Upgrade, the drive gode is FAR better in 1.4.
I'm going to pick up an action replay at some point (probably next month now) and then I can skip the whole PSO/BBA process and just have a self contained piracy enabled unit :)

[edit] Use Gc-fix instead
