okay thank you pca, might be a good idea for a sticky with the latest software, that will finish off the console softmodding trilogy.

Of course, like Paul Anderson's mortal kombat and Resident Evil films, they were always meant to be trilogies, until there's four of them.

I'm happy to write up a GC sticky with links to the software etc.

As for WHEN that's another matter ;)

hat happened to me on re4 on specific places also, like when opening a door, i would almost always get a dre at opening that door, but then i burned it to better media and all is ok now, so it must be the media.
Some games work fine but others need better media, must be because of the way the gamecube reads them or somethin..

I'll try burning at one speed. Good job I backup isos always in datamode these days

Sorry, I thought you were having problems with RE4 and POP2.

I too had DRE's with those datawrites, I don't get them with the Prodisc's, I can only assume the GC doesn't like them.

Seriously spud, you should try with the other disks, you may find your problems disappear.

Also what version of GCOS are you using and what version is your drive?

oh no i do, what i mean is they all boot, and its only those two that do a DRE after playing a bit.

I got home now, so I'm going to try and update the GCOS, I was using only version 1.1.

I'll report back anyway.

That's EXACTLY what i'm talking about though Spud, swapping with Mario Kart DD instead of PSO is better for me, also Datawrites on my GC DRE and Bulkpaq don't (yet)

That's the same shit I was talking about, with the door in RE4. I burnt to another media and it worked fine after that. I burn all mine at 4x, the ones I burnt at 1x and 2x wouldn't even boot for some reason, with any boot disc.

I still think Datasafe are the best discs, but haven't tried Bulkpaq. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat always gives me DRE after 2 or 3 levels, maybe I will reburn it, it's on a Datawrite at the moment.

PCA I get really confused when I see you posting at Maxconsole, think I'm on a blue version of HHAH.

Also, I tried out GCOS 1.4 just for the hell of it, it worked just like Cobra though, but it is the same code after all. It's got some nice features, although I hope some more software comes out, but some of the emulators are ok. There's a new release of the SNES emulator just come out that I will have to try out soon.

It's good that we can still use PSO to stream the games too, you never have to burn a shit game.

I'm way past that part in RE4 BTW spud, no DRE's on any game yet, EXCEPT the ones on the datawrite media.

I just got a DRE whilst playing RE4, although I rebooted and I didn't get it again, looks like I might have to tweak some more (!)

lol, well i reburnt the image at 4x on datawrite and i can get through the damn door now.

god damn it, I wish someone will hurry up and say "right this is the best media", "This is what you need to tweak your drive to", "you should burn at this speed", "you should always fix your isos", etc.

Where's the mad japanese person that locks himself in a room for a year and figures this stuff out when you need him?

The big problem seems to be that the correct settings are different for everyone these are mine though

Drive tweaked to 160Ohms
Bulkpak (prodisk s03) Media
and a mixture of fixed and non fixed media

All working fine :)

first, tried with the sample discs, burning image, datawrite has 3mb more, bulpaq and datasafe have 1mb less than the image... didn't bother trying hyundi

1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes)

fits on datawrite just fine though

btw. metriod 2 boots fine for me, just booted and having a go to see if the game plays.

You have faulty disks return them.

SVP were well aware of the fact that they had bought a bad batch of disks, that's why I had mine replaced.

I've been doing a little more research on the DRE thing and it looks like doing an fstfix with the s and f switches is a good idea.
