Someone spoofing me

I'm on the queue of one "emule HHAH George Tatum", but this guy is in Germany and is running emule 0.45b [zx v3.5], whereas I am in the UK running Neomule

Is this some dickhead pretending to be me or is anyone aware of a mod that does this?

I want to post his IP address, but I guess I'd end up with this avatar

I guess it's some idiot copying my nick, I checked the mod out, looks good actually. Can't see why someone should want to pretend to be me though, there's a lot more prolific members here if they want to steal credits, and that wouldn't work without the correct userhash

I normally ignore anyone that isn't:
HHAH xyz
format anyway, shows they don't even use the site else they would have read that's what syntax people are using

Ive seen that most people have HHAH name and others (and me) have [HHAH] name does it matter?

well as i said, i generally just ignore anyone not:
HHAH name

That includes brackets, etc. since its an indication they didn't bother reading the thread in the forums and therefore isn't a someone I know is going to share.

If I change my name from [HHAH] Guldmane to HHAH Guldmane will my friends have to add me again?

don't think so. Spud for example suddenly and mysteriously appeared in my friendslist as the above mentioned Spudvich. but he's still running some pretty lame emule mod. when all the other uploaders get 5kB/s from me, he only uploads about 2kB/s. :roll:

what's wrong with your client, Spud?

Yeah really weird, that shit happened to me only on 1 file, as far as i know... Der todesking by Buttgereit.

There was only 4 or 5 FS and he was one of them... never upped a single bit to me... never answered my messages...

maybe but there are only very few uploaders who're not uploading with full speed from me. and your client's getting in troubles with both sivka and pawcio. sometimes i even kick it out of my upload queue by giving you the friend slot.

btw, what are the advantages of morphxt? i'm getting tired of using the same old mod. sivka hasn't been updated for ages.

Its pretty well documented.

I know for a fact its not my client because its getting 160kb/s downloads at this second, or it was, until i closed it down to run bitcomet.

That was the file, he was a FS and never upped to me either. Sounds like some sort of spoof mod then.

nope. The friends-list is based on user-hash, I believe.

I also occasionally check my upload cue for anyone with a HHAH prefix and slap on a friend slot here and there.

oh and just to point out, I don't treat any client negatively or anything, its just i quickly scan the list and then bump up any peeps i spot, which are normally hhah prefix people. Most of the people who don't have it like that i don't even know who they are. :lol:

It only really makes a slight difference anyways, overall your going to get through to something i've got on release anyway.

For the record:
username and userhash are totally independant
userhash and ip are independant
client and userhash are generally independant if you keep your .dat files
friendslots do not equal more speed
friendslots don't count in your upload stats
giving a friendslot to someone already transferring is likely to boot them from your upload

which means you should use friendslots conservatively, they count negatively in your stats, and aren't exactly bug free.
