Adobe After Effects will probably be your best bet then, I think you'll probably
need some indication of who is speaking, given they are plastic midgets and
they all looks the same apart from body colour

i was thinking what i will most likely do it have 2 heads (i'll design the eyes
& mouths on the computer & letraset them onto blank heads, as opposed
to painting features onto blank heads which would look crappy) have 1
with mouth open and one closed & alternate them for speech. south
park uses around 5 mouth expressions, as i say i'll need to try it out. also
this will give me a chance do play about with some zombie faces an such,
but still to have it look as good as any head you can buy ready done
from lego

how long will it be btw? you got a script ready? I'm asuming you're not
meaning to do the whole full-leangth feature...

Not sure about how long its going to be, depends if i lose interest to be
honest, i was thinking i could either do one of the many trailers frame
for frame & add the respective soundtrack, or shorten the film down to
1 to 15 mins, i think theres a limit at which anyone would sit and watch
this, if i did the full 90 min film i think most ppl would get bored after
15 mins.

The other alternative being the comic book style exclaimation speech indication (lines from the speaking character)

Anyway, I'm sure your on top of it, looks cool thus far.

lol I meant the the exclaimation notation for someone making a sound rather than a speech bubble, many of the lego animations did that.

Basically, its just (normally) 6 lines that go off at angles around the characters head. To show who's actually talking.

Sounds like the old effect that was used for Psylocke when she used her powers.

If you are looking for a way to get good sampels for the short try this method.....

Well, i like to do this, so here's the way I do it! Programs needed:

AnyDVD
DVD Audio Extractor
Sonic Foundry Soft Encode

Use the surround sound track off the dvd you want to use. Run anydvd to bypass copyright protection. Extract the chapter you'd like to use with dvd audio extractor, saving as ac3. Open the ac3 in soft encode. It will open them as six seperate audio tracks. Delete all but the center channel track and save as pcm wav. You will now have a clean, dialogue only audio track with no background noise, sound effects, or movie music in it.

If you look at the other audio channels you can often get sound effects with no background music.. or soundtrack music with no other sound in it either... ....
