Question. You said DVD NTSC should be have a resolution about 700.
Can you explain this from Nicky's guides?

NTSC dvd = 720x540

I am trying to figure out why I can't get 720.
Here's another
NTSC footage technically has a PAR of 0.911 and PAL has a PAR of 1.094 but we are going to work from the following principle - on a PC monitor, NTSC dvds need resizing to 640x480 to be 4:3 and PAL DVDs need resizing to 768x576. This is a simplified version of the truth but it suits us well enough.

I looked at another film in Gnot with same results.

NTSC 720x480 is what I have been reading. Also going higher in zoom can create more artifacts? Is that true?

Could you explain what they mean in this article? If you want me to rip within your specifications I need to find out why I can't. I think that's fair.

Sorry, I made a mistake in the above NTSC is 720x480, but yes if you zoom in over 100% you will be interpolating (adding things that aren't there) the picture quality will suffer.

They are not MY specifications they are the STANDARD specifications for ripping as laid down by every ripping group.

A story about leading a horse to water comes to mind when you read this thread back.Fuck it PC_A...let him do what he wants to do...obviously he knows better then any of us would.Just remember to post your specs Deadbeat so people can decide they want a low resolutioned copy or not..also conduct a search of the site to make sure it hasn't been released in a format better then what you are delivering.I think this should put an end to this debate which was long in the tooth at the outset.

Hey, PC_Arcade is cool. He has given me a lot of help. This is not about leading anything. You have to understand some of us are new and very excited about this stuff. I was told about Gnot and to use guides for it. I did. Then I was told when I said what guide I went by-wrong guide, to use Doom9. I am trying. I want to get resolution within guidelines. Did it ever occur to you I am not the only newbie with problems? I know I could post somewhere else but if guys like PC_Arcade cpme forward and help maybe we could find a solution for resolution. I'd be more then happy to go through this post and make a Dummy's Guide for AVis-with moderators approval.

What comes to mind is a friend who is not only convinced Mpeg is best but that DOS rules. I finally convinced him not only to change to cable, but to go from 95 to XP. He's happy but skeptical. I learned computer in one year that most would I guess consider me a intermediate. The only way to learn is to ask questions.

Let this thread be for people eager to learn. Sometimes you cannot get your answers from guides. Long live guys like PC_Arcade. Hey PC_Arcade if we resolve this issue can we change post to beginers guides in some way?

(!) I think part of the problem Deadbeat comes from your way of posting, it sometimes comes across (unintentionally I'm sure) as arrogant and rude.

As for the beginners guide to ripping, there is one here already, in fact I pointed you to it in an earlier post. The beginners guide is here and that combined with the guides at doom9 should be enough for anyone.

Just ten years ago 250 gig hard drive was iimpossible.
A wav to reduce to 1/10th-Mpg3? Is it reality? Yes.
What will happen in the next 10 years?
I was told my hard drive is a lot bigger then the drive that probably was used in the sixeties for the world.
