imo don't bother with doom3, pc version is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy better, and that's not all that hot either.

I got the DVD9 version and stripped out all the crap, it's now ~3.3Gb IIRC

Doom 3 is the same old shitty game it was on the PC, only with lesser gfx  Chronicles of riddick looks better than doom 3 on the xbox IMHO.

The PC version of doom3 is not

, it's a crap game on the PC and is a marginally less crap game on the xbox (thanks to co-op multiplayer) with crappier graphics than the PC version.

and shit controls ;) And given that's all it had going for it, imo playing on the box only spoils it. I only had a quick burn on it but it didn't seem worthy of the dvdr.

riddick is a nice game, there's the difference.

and sorry it is MILES better on the pc (and its still only crap). The controls are shit, it just wasn't made for a pad.

My 2cents is don't even bother burning it. Play the pc version instead, it doesn't play like a slug and at least looks pretty.

OK, the PC version is a bit prettier and has better controls, the GAME is a pile of shit either way.

SC:CT is nice though, a real improvement over the previous 2 SC titles.

The thing is though, even though it was shit i still completed it for some reason on the pc... I'm betting you did too right?

I would never in a kabillion years got through the xbox version, which is what I mean.

Anyways, are there any lesser known titles around that people would recommend? Something like an action/adventure game, I'm kind of bored and am looking for something original to play... doesn't have to be new, just good :)

I had a quick look to see what they'd had to cut out, some bits are handled better, it's quicker to get into the action and there's more action because there are less rooms to wander about in, but there's no way in HELL (no pun intended) i'd play through the whole thing again.

The best game i've got for xbox is probably Ninja Gaiden. Entertaining, quite challenging, good controls, great action, good looks... What else do you want? As for RPG, Star Wars KOTOR is nice, haven't tried the second yet, Fable is fun too, only a bit short.
Games i played most are the emulated snes games tho. Emulation's gotta be the second-best function of the xbox.

I'm loving burnout 3 at the mo. Not really a huge console racer fan but it helps fill the odd half hour. Not really into spending huge amounts of time sat in front of the tv playing games....unless its zelda of course!

no, I've acquired one until someone can be bothered to pick it up. Still placing the odd bid on ebay trying to get one of my own

I'm not a huge KoTOR fan, is the second one much better? Fable did look nice, I'd heard loads and loads of hype for that one for ages before its release but i've never actually played it.

Small question: I just ripped my FFVII game for psx to play on my xbox with the pcsxbox emulator. Will i be able to swap cd's? I use images for the game discs because my xbox won't read any CD-R, nor will it read the original game disc.
Help will be appreciated since i don't want to play for a couple of hours before finding out i can never finish, hehe. Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking about chipping my xbox. Just thinking but which chip should i buy, solderless/non solderless, where etc. There are a lot of websites for it but there probably are some 'best ones' out there.
Thanks in advance.

Depends what you want, if you just want a single bios then any 2nd gen chip is OK, or if you want a bit more then go for either the Xenium or the X3.

Although what benefit over and above softmodding are you looking for?

HDD especially. I'm not really going to experiment with it a lot etc. but a bigger HDD would be great. Swapping HDD with a softmod seems kind of 'dangerous' to me, maybe it just looks like it though.

Swapping HDD's with a softmod is easy enough, BUT it's time consuming and you have to prep the drive in a PC, also the hard disk has to be "lockable"
