Nice one Koffkongen :D Is that with AOL or just NTL. Also aren't NTL capping these days? I don't know what to do now. Use NTL for everything - Phone, TV and Internet. Or ADSL and SkyDigital!!

HELP!! :? :? :?

NTL don't enforce the cap on anything other than the 1Mb connection AT THE MOMENT

Has anyone used Freedom2Surf?

Their 2MB with a 100 GB limit for ?28 seems reasonable.

Bulldog are real cheap, just gotta wait for them to come ot my area with a decent speed.

SmellyWaste are looking more and more uncompetitive these days. TBH th eonly thing that has kept me with them this long is the reliability and quality of the connection, but this is only worth so much extra.

I can't find it now barry.

It was in one of the broadband forums where it said October.

However i seem to remember reading on an NTL press release where it said,

When we have the technical side set up we will be able to moniter customers daily usage allowance. Once the limit is reached customers will have the choice to pay ?1.50(i think) per extra GB, or the speed will be dropped to 128k for the rest of the month. We expect to roll this out in the Q4 2005.

Don't quote me word for word tho :?

Suddenly finding myself a customer of UGC after their buyout of NTL Ireland may yet be a blessing in disguise.

I jus got a letter fromm NTL about the free speed upgrades, cheeky fukkers tho!!
i'm currently on the 750/128 and got a pace box and it wont take the upgrade to 2MB (i think 1,5MB is the most they can handle) so the letter states that i will get a free upgrade to 1MB instead.....wot they dont say in the letter is that the 1MB line is capped NOW and also is ?7 a month cheaper!! but they dont mention that my monthly sub would go down to reflect this. so gave the CS team a rather stroppy call stating that they are trying to rip me off!! they agreed!!!! wot is worse is that they cant upgrade my box for 2 months!! so i gotta stay on the 750K line for at least 2 months yet - but it wasnt all in vain as i did manage to get the next couple of months FREE from them as compensation :D

Freedom2Surf sends broadband through the roof
by Simon Easterman, PC Advisor

Service to hit 24Mbps in next few months

Broadband speeds are to take an unprecedented leap forward in the next few months, with Freedom2Surf claiming to be in pole position.

The ISP, which is today launching its new 8Mbps service, will soon be upgrading the offering to 24Mbps.

The 8Mbps service is available for ?15 a month. At present it is online at only 14 exchanges, covering metropolitan areas, but Freedom2Surf says that will soon go up to around 200 exchanges.

Customers on Freedom2Surf?s existing 2Mbps Connect Packages will be able to upgrade to 8Mbps by paying a one-off ?15 regrade fee if their local exchange capability is sufficient.

Then, at a certain point ?in the next three to four months?, all subscribers to the 8Mbps service will be promoted to 24Mbps, Freedom2Surf has said.

Broadband services of such speeds will have a massive effect on the quality and speed of users? downloads. Online gaming and home entertainment media downloading is likely to be revolutionised.

Chris Panayis, managing director of Freedom2Surf, commented: ?We are expecting to see the launch of a number of new broadband-content services such as internet TV during 2005, and super-speed broadband will allow users to turn their internet connection into a complete entertainment gateway for their home.

?The promise of Local Loop Unbundling is finally delivering. Consumers as a result will be able to enjoy 24Mbps broadband for the same price as many are paying for bog-standard 1Mbps services.?

Might ditch NTL and get a bigger HD. :o

I wouldn't bother 100Gb per month on their top tier + ?1.50 per Gb over and above :(

seeing as 1Gb can be downloaded @ 24mb in ~5 mins (I'll round it up to 10 though to allow for transient network speeds and to make it easier), you would use up you entire months bandwidth in ~16 1/2 hours.
After that you're into pay per GB :(

unless I've got my sums wrong, NTL due to not monitoring ATM is a MUCH better bet

From 2 to 100GB traffic allowance (not metered during off-peak times from 1am to 6am)

Get your calculator :wacky:

still lists 2mb as the top my phone can have despite the claims of 'broadband britain'... it all mostly applies to f*cking cockneys

Even allowing for their 5 unmetered hours a day, you still go over your entire months limit in one day

The odd thing is though, they've not mentioned upload limits at all, so theoretically you can upload @ 768kbps 24/7. although I would imagine they'll put a stop to that shortly after us p2p users sign up

i think when they cap, they count both directions and if so, emule will be hard to use given the bandwidth requirements.

Just signed up for their 2MB service, I hope the process is smooth and glitch free. Reading their forums, it seems many people have an absolute nightmare migrating to them. :(
