wow thats a lot of open ports TDL :o

I recently had azerues stop working and i can't figure out why, I tried out bit tornado and it was marginally better. I've used bit comet which is really great, however, it doesn't support the scan directory for new torrents which is vital...

Any other clients that have that feature?

Not sure Spud. It's not really an option i've ever looked for in a client. Bitcomet would be good but i still refuse to use one without Super Seed. I hate using multiple clients for different tasks when i can use bitornado and get the best for downloads and uploads.

I got all them ports open because i've read on some torrent forums ahwile ago that a large number of isps are now blocking or throttling the main bt ports and the one place recommended opening the ports i've got open now to get the optimal speed.

Yeah Tak ABC is based on bitornado. It's basically exactly bitornado(except for dropping clients for unknown reasons) but it looks a lot better. If it weren't for that issue of clients dropping off i would probably use it just because of the looks. A guy gets sick of looking at a grey box all the time :wacky:

I really think it's all to do with the setups of each other's networks. Plus depending on what you have for settings with those clients. I don't have any problems with crashes with bitornado but other guys do. Tak doesn't have the problem i have with ABC but i can't figure out why it effects mine so bad. Everybodies system reacts differently to each client. I guess that's why there's hundreds of clients out there now for us to choose from.

Now i demand all of you to switch to Bitornado because it is king and bow down and kiss my feet

Same thing happened to me. Can't hardly get any down speeds at all and it doesn't even want to upload. Can't understand why... :?

Never tried any other BT clients. Looks like it's time to do so.

By the way, what happened to KG tracker ? Haven't been able to connect in days. :(

did you try to upgrade to 2.3.0.0 and jdk 1.5?
now you have to open the udp port (same number as tcp) to enable some azureus-only enhancements, like "trackerless torrents" (it creates a distributed database of peers, or something like that).

oh, and about KG, from FH:

ABC is great, it's always given me fast speeds. The new version is fucked up, though - I tried closing it once and it froze, and every time I tried to redownload the torrents I had in that session it'd refuse, even after multiple re-installs.

I must reiterate that I have never had any probs with G3. Just make sure you leave the leech options in the default "off" settings.

Well I take back all the good things I've ever said about Azureus. I've recently just packed up my main PC for heading back to the UK, and treated myself to a format of my laptop. Must have been feeling lazy as I couldn't be arsed reinstalling java and az again so I put on yABC instead. The only thing I did to it was set my upload bw to 80% and let it run. Jeez, the speeds are amazing (I must add I have tried it before on my main PC - but not long enough I'm sure, as I would have kept it on knowing this).

Well if it stays this good, I'll be using yABC from now on. Certainly works for me.
