The 12v one should just drop in, not sure if that's any quiter than the rating on the stock fan though.
Might be worth picking one up and giving it a go

PC_Arcade, a quick question someone has asked me about softmodding -
"Question.
How would you go about softmodding an Xbox if you had a friend with one already softmodded, would it be possible to link the two and copy the files over?"
I'm sure it's a no, but you opinion is valued the most. Thanks.

You certainly COULD do (with a PC intervening)
All you would have to do is this : FTP the contents of the (soft) modded xbox to a PC, use a save game exploit on the non modded xbox and then just replace the unmodded contents with the modded content.
You'd have to be careful about BIOS version etc, but it would work (although it's a little pointless)
From unmodded, no. Or at least not in such a way that would be easy enough to justify

Another quickie, a mate on another forum has bought a softmodded Xbox off ebay and it came with EvoX and not UnleashX. Neither of us can figure how to start EvoX from the tHC lite dash (which has 'coolstuff' instead of 'hard drive' on the menu - so I'm assuming it is tHC lite).
I told him to press the 2 triggers and 'another' button (yellow doesn't work), but he is more of a noob than me and is loathe to do that.
Any help much appreciated.

It's worth checking all the "both triggers and button combinations", if that doesn't work then, you'll have to manually edit the config.xbx to add the shortcut combination (it's VERY easy).
Assuming of course that it's not listed anywhere under "Cool Stuff"

Not sure yet. He's also having a nightmare with his network too. Can't ftp or use XBMC networked.

Network was a cable fault. He's happy as the proverbial pig in s**t now. It took him 2 days to figure that out. A damn cable.

Nanjo asked earlier in the thread, but how could one use a USB memory stick to transfer saves from a PC to an XBOX? |
Aah, yeah, I never did finish that Basically you need a femaule USB cable and a spare breakaway cable and you join the two together in the same way as the controller. I'll write that into the tutorial soon [quote Secondly, will a standard XBOX memory card work with an AR, or do you have to use the supplied one that comes with the AR. Thank you. |
Yes, ANY memory card works, although the newer AR ones are usually OK[/quote]
PC_Arcade - this is going back a bit now, sorry. How do I put the game save onto a USB pen drive using my PC. The AR software doesn't recognize anything but an AR. Do I unpack the zip file and copy those files onto the pen drive? Or something completely different. Thanks

As you said, just copy the unzipped files to the pen-drive, the only problem is that the xbox might not recognise the USB drive

OK thanks PC_Arcade, but I've been fiddling - I copied the ltools1.8_007.zip file into the AR database (which changed it's name to BOND:AUF) then off again onto the pen drive (drag and drop into win explorer) so I ended up with AgentUnder_BONDAUF.zip on the pen drive. Surely this is the file to be copied onto the Xbox. If I unpack the zip it ends up as a UDATA folder????

In order to copy a save onto the pen drive you have to unpack the .zip retaining directory structure and copy the file UNDER the udata\ directory to the usb stick.
for example udata\12345678\ should be copied to the pend drive as JUST 12345678\
then (assuming that the xbox recognises the USB stick) you can copy it using the M$ dashboard as though it were a normal Memory card

Thanks PC Arcade for the excellent guide, the homemade AR was a doddle to make.
But I have a few questions for you or anyone in the know.
I've followed all the steps upto the networking part, so my Xbox is modded but with the crappy dash.
I've unplugged my cable modem and plugged it into the Xbox (so the cable is connected to the Xbox and my NIC card), when I turn on my computer though it tells me that a network cable is unplugged why is this?
It's the same cable that my conection has been running on so the cable isn't knackered, I've also tried 2 other cables but get the same message.
If I can't get the networking going how can I get the stuff from the Softmod Addon Pack onto my Xbox?
Is there also another way of backing up my EEPROM?
Thanks in advance.
