I'm looking to transcode an avi, changing the resolution to 320x240 and get the file size down to ~450Mb to put on my pocketPC.

Can anyone tell me the best way to do it?

You could try DrDivx for a quick convert, although i'm not sure if you can specify exactly what res you want. But if you changed the AR out of proportion then wouldn't it look funny?

There are a few portable device options in the settings.

You could load it up and see what the res would come out as.

Other than that it's all a bit technical for me! :wacky:

Was going to say, there are apps for this kind of thing, thats the most popular but there are loads more if you navigate to a PPC application site (its just a matter of browsing, seeing what applications you like the look of then emule searching for the cracked version).

Damn, so my suggestion of putting electrical tape around the edges of the screen is no good?

worked REALLY well.

Manged to fit Starwars episode III and then entire first season of darkplace onto a 1gb card, the quality is pretty good and I'm VERY happy with the results :beerchug:

I suppose that's one of the good things about mini-videos, you can't make the mistake of not reducing resolution. Reducing it so low means your bits/pixel is very high, which means you get a good looking picture at the low resolution... as long as its not stretched bigger

I just don't see the point of watching a movie on a little screen/on the move. Defeats the purpose for me. What kit are you using btw? IPAQ?

I've got an xda IIi.
Video on the move is a litle pointless TBH, but it's nice to have the option to watch a movie on a long journey.

ah rite, I suppose watching something on a plane, like an episode of the simpsons or something, but i couldn't watch anything that needs loads of attention like a movie.

XDA? Those are the phone ppcs right? I'm not a fan of the hybrids, I'd rather have a cheap / functional phone that i can take everywhere (ie night out) and then just a ppc that I'll take most places.

I haven't read up on ppc models these days, but ipaqs used to dominate when i got mine :) If you come across any ARM software that's essential let me know :)
