Around these parts you'll find people like the Emule client, mainly in its modified form.

Recommended clients:

Neomule (http://www.neomule.tk)
Pawcio (http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/)
MorphXT (http://emulemorph.sourceforge.net/)

All completely virus free :? , which is nice.

That emulemorph looks interesting.

I just use the regular off the shelf client, but as I am getting comfy with the ed2k concept Id like to branch out.

Thanks for the tips. I checked the forums out for mod information, but theres just so much stuff here.

That Morph one works really good for me Borny. I switched from the sivka mod awhile back and it's been good. :)

Yeah, after my last client, Black Hand?, went dead I started moving around clients alot. I too settled on MorphXT, been using for a while and it has been great.

Hey guys, previously used eDonkey but i find it has gone downhill a lot in the past while so i tried out MorphXT. Downloaded it and ran it (noticed there was no installation). The big problem i did have is that i couldnt get it to connect, the error i recieved was that i had no valid servers in my serverlist
My first question is where do i attain a list of servers for downloading?
Secondly, if i link my temporary folder for XT to the same temporary folder i am currently downloading things into for Edonkey, can i resume these files using XT?
I do notice, and maybe it's just me, there are very few sources, if any at all for most things here using edonkey. I'm hoping to remedy this with XT.
Anyways, any help would be appreciative.

Check your firewall first of all :)

As far as i'm aware, morphXt has some stored that it should automatically download on startup, does a box not popup trying to download a list of servers? Check your not blocking with your firewall if the box appears but fails.

If one doesn't, grab one of these for testing pruposes, Razorback2 is the biggest:

Click this to add the list to emule:

Edonkey2000 old style part files are 100% compatible with emule, the modified/new part files are not (the makers of edonkey2000 don't seem to be very emule friendly). You can convert them, you go to the button along the top (I think its 'tools') -> import part files, and then import them. You might want to back them up, that's up to you.

Bingo, herein lies emule's first strength (the rest is nearly everything else ). edonkey has never been as good as emule for source location.

Thanks Spud, i really appreciate the help.

Edit: One more thing i meant to ask, i've got a huge server list now and as i've heard razorback 2 is apparently the best server, however, can i connect to more than one server at a time?

No. Despite the apparant logic behind this, well there is none or at least little. emule makes servers increasingly irrelevant beyond making your client available to see initially. KAD carries a lot more source propagation and so you get very little out of sitting on multiple servers. its not that much of a problem with emule sitting on a server and connecting to other users across the network, the need to know what server people were on died with edonkey2000, since one of the major things emule brought was source sharing.

As far as I'm aware, only mldonkey offers connecting to multiple servers, but there's little point with emule.

If you sit on razorback and run KAD, you don't really need to do anything else. Doesn't have to be razorback, any server thats got a low ping and high user count and your ip will get passed around so people can find you and you can find them.

KAD? source propagation/exchange in a serverless environment.

People can always download what your downloading, and enything in your incoming folder

If they are files elsewhere, you don't want shared on your hdd, then you are most likely sharing a root directory and all subdirectories.
