Just a offtopic comment, Prayer said that his provider sends out letters to their users. In my country we have a company thats called the anti pirate group who works with the police, kind of like RIAA. Now, the funny thing is that the anti pirate group is really tired of the companies providing DSL because they don't give out information on their costumers if they don't have a warrent, because most of their costumers leech stuff, and they don't want to loose them, now thats what I call cool. The phonecompanies are protecting their users. Kind of like saying "We dont give a fuck about the movie or music industry, cause we make money of this shit".

eh, im pretty sure pornography is what made the internet. just like vcrs in the early 80;s, porn is responsible for quite a lot of things becoming widespread. now ive heard some digital rights companies are going after internet porn much like the riaa and mpaa is doing. Ive also seen a lot of stuff about font use copywrite enforcement starting to rear its ugly head. taking these things to such a finite legal point has gone beyond the ridiculous and entering insanty territory.

Seems it is true, and is really bad for RIAA:

Quote:
A number of peer-to-peer Internet song swapping services along with a radio DJ have offered to pay the $2,000 settlement between RIAA and the mother of 12-year-old Brianna LaHara for downloading music illegally.

Industry sanctioned music download site MusicRebellion.com has also offered $2,000 of legal downloads for Brianna. Since the settlement of the suit, Brianna has become the poster girl for those opposed to RIAA's legal pursuit of music downloader?s.

Grokster President Wayne Rosso, one of those offering to pay the settlement said: "I just feel that these people are bullies" and that "They're like the show-business version of the Taliban".

eh, the antip2p people start from months ago, the stuff theyve logged. even if u were to get scared and quit mule today, they would still come after you.
the mpaa is starting the same thing as riaa next month, with all the stuff theyve collected over the last buncha months(i think it was just legal to do that at the end of june, but they were tracking for year+).
its not even really about copyrighted stuff anymore, its becoming more along the lines of getting a more efficient way to track everyones usage on the internet, control information, and make sure everyone knows 'we are watching you'. instant access to limitless information, and feeling free to really speak your opinions anon is dangerous to a goverment. got to nip it, and make sure thier is a scapegoat(p2p) to blame the loss of freedom/rights on 'bad guys' (pirates/peodophiles/terrorists/whomever is the current enemy to goodness).

ahh, rantmode off.
dont trust anybody over 10!

i still say fuck em... if they think they gonna be a big brother on the net they will loose in the end anyway, what do u think will happen after this... a smarter p2p systems will come and then they can sit on the fence and watch but do nothing.... they killed napster and everyone knows what happen after napster...

we know they dont earn enuff money on their music sales becouse ppl dont like the music they sell, dont want to pay full price for a album that only have 2 good songs and the rest sucks etc etc

i have one word that fits and that is GREED, and they show it damn well now, who wants to supports big companies that only want money and give a shit about artist and music.... customer have allways right, but thats forgotten.....

unfortunatley, if u ask Average Joe Citizen (or Average Heinz,Abdula, Jan,Pteor,Charles,Sanjai, etc Citizen depending on the country) the only thing they hear is 'pirates, peadophiles, and porn'(eh p3p). they dont really see the bigger picture, wich (to me) seems to be the complete control of the internet, subdueing new technology because it makes goods too available to anyone who wants them, and good old fashioned showing the citizens who's the boss(big business/money is of course), and keeping the status que unchanged at any cost(well, at whatever cost they can make the accused pay, and pay, and pay, and pay).

ah, i would have made a good hippie, now if only i can figure out how these rants will be able to get me laid.*

*errr, outside a prison setting. i wouldnt want to go to jail for my views, but i would like to get laid. by women. piles and piles of women.

All this talk reminds me of what a friend once said while driving down the road darting from one lain to the other passing people. He said, "They're all sheep!" And of course I chimed right in like the beginning of the Butthole Surfers song 'Dust Devil' with, "Baaaah, Baaaah!"

He was wrong though. He should have said "We're all sheep!" We all tend to do the same things, buy the same things, want the same things. It is just easier that way. Going against the flow can be hard, and in my friend's case, at that time, it can get you a ticket. But in someways it is just as hard to follow the rules, especially when you examine things(i.e. think) and try to keep them in the right perspective.

As addicted as I am (just the way 'they' like it) to movies and music, I think I deserve better options. Too bad the ones I've found are illegal. :P

All in all I'm just another sheep. I just hope my fleece stays black.
