I've started downloading what I believe to be the game. I'm betting now it needs a gfx card. Heh. This is actually God's game - Mantronix Vs The Internet.

It needs a basic 3d card, i think i had a really terrible Voodoo3 back then, which wasn't as good as a Geforce 2 GTS... it could play it no problems.

It even played on my really, really old Voodoo1 ATI card back then (was it 97?). Looked horribly constipated though... You should have no trouble at all with even the most basic GF2 or Radeon 9200 card.

Will it play on my absolutely-no-card-installed-4000?

It is way better, doom3 is nothing but a huge dissapointment, brought nothing new or interesting. It was just the atmosphere that made it okay.

Yeah, FEAR looks interesting, been following it for a while... as long as they don't dumb it down for the xbox it will be alright methinks. That's the biggest problem with FPS, they really serverly cap the game to make it more 'console friendly' which ruins the game.

Was like Deus Ex 2.. et al. :?

Quake is normally where they spill there efforts (over doom that is), baring in mind that they have just made the afroementioned shitty doom3.

I think the series has got progressively worse though, Quake 1 was good, Quake 2 was good for entirely different reasons and wasn't very much like the first, and Quake 3 is just utterly shit. Like a shit version of unreal tournament

What's required for online gaming? Massive uploading bandwidth or download? I have stacks of download, but up is still 256. I quite fancy building this 'puter up a bit and getting into that.

Yeah the remake is better than the original (wow, did i just say that? :wacky:), but then again the fourth sequel is better than the first and the remake...

I think 256 will be alright, its just your location and action details that are uploaded, the ping is important with online games because its the responsiveness rather than mere speed that's enough.

Well, without even blinking I must say, the best horror game is Clive Barker's Undying. Scared the s**t out of me... However as the game progresses you can find too many first aid kits, so I finish the game with 73 kits. And as you can see, atmosphere is ruined if you can heal yourself anytime you like...

u know one of my friends used to tell me how playing avp in a dark room in the middle of winter with all the curtains closed and the lights out used to really shit him up because it was so atmospheric, i tried and never felt scared or anything once, so i would say avp atmosphere? bullshit but yes avp2 did end up going down the action fps road rather then the way avp1 went, infact i can honestly say the only single time a game has made me jump is resident evil 3 - nemesis near the beginning when you come down the stairs of the R.P.D and old nemmy (brother of motorhead's Lemmy...no really!) jumps in through the window

I actually don't like console type survival horrors like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. I played several of them, they looked ok, scary and stuff, but I never forced myself to play further... don't know why.

I remember playing Undying, when something attacked me and I jumped so much, that my mouse flew like 1m away (lucky me, it was on cord) and I ripped off several keys on keyboards with my other hand. I had to step aside for a minute and calm myself down.

I consider myself lucky, because I can let myself get sucked right into a game or a movie, so I can enjoy it's atmosphere in its fullest 8)

if were talking about atmosphere and getting sucked into a game the only thats really dragged me in deeply that ive felt i was actually there was the secret of monkey island 1 on the amiga, im sure everyone knows how i feel about resident evil games so i wont retread old old ground there but i never liked silent hill at all, for some reason i just kept thinking the lead character (harry was it?) wouldnt look out of place if he was played by jason priestly or luke perry and surrounded by other 30 year old 18 year olds as they try to stop some ancient evil force

i remember seeing boxes for clive barkers undying in shops but never played it, faeces inducing horror or lame snoozefest? answers on a postcard
